Not what was expected

The teenagers with me had been on a haunted tour in Edinborough, Scotland. They were expecting ghost stories and eerie things happening before their eyes, as they had experienced before. The stories told by the tour guide were gross, but not particularly scary. No ghosts. Bottom line - they were VERY disappointed

pathetic

There was so much construction plus a photo shoot going on that the entire tour was ridiculous. The tour guide( Braxton) had to hurry up ahead of us to turn OFF the lights so it would look believable and then use his flashlight to pretend we were actually in the dark. This was absolutely a waste of my time!

Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very entertaining. I liked the fact that she treated the tour as historical first and paranormal second.

We had a great time...our guide was good without being overly dramatic or cheesy, as is often the case with these kinds of tours. She just told the stories, in a matter of fact way. The location is very creepy, all on its own. It just looks like something out of a horror novel. We enjoyed the tour and recommend it, but definitely not for small children.

My boyfriend is REALLY into scarey movies. I thought it would be fun to do a ghost tour--it was well worth the money. We learned a lot of freaky history about the area and caught an orb on camera also! The guide was awesome! She has the perfect voice for a tour like this. My boyfriend was expecting a cheesy haunted house feel with spooky music and creepy lighting. That was not the case at all. It was authentic and just creepy enough to make me not want to walk home (thank GOODNESS for the bike taxi). Great experience. Next time, we will try another Bulldog tour.

Hot and Boring!

The Haunted Jail Tour was torture. The jail was so hot that we felt like we were being held prisoner. Our guide was not a good storyteller. His monotone delivery and lack of content only added to our misery. In fact, a fellow tourist was telling better stories in the back of the group. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. My group of 10 felt like they had wasted their time and money. Finally, there were holes in the second floor that dropped down to the first floor. I would be wary of taking children on this tour. My group had some engineers in it who wondered how the city/state was allowing public tours of the building in its present condition.

Biggest waste of money and time!

we were very excited to go on this tour after reading all the positive reviews-we even went on the 9:30pm tour as suggested. To start with, you have to pick up your tickets at one location in the downtown market where there is absolutely no parking available and then travel 6 more blocks to the actual location. Upon waiting for our tour to begin we witnessed other's disappointment upon emerging from the "haunted" jail. Once inside, it was so dark one couldn't see anything except modern tools and machinery being used by students to restore the building. There was nothing intact-not even original cells that were used. And if that's not enough there was no ventilation whatsoever. We were told "stories" about the Fishers that had little historical truth after doing some research. Upon arriving home we tried to find out some more information about the history of the Old Jail. Could not find much on the subject except for the haunted tours. could it be that all this was fabricated to just make money?

Interesting but not what was expected

I enjoyed the tour, however, I was disappointed in the outcome. The Website seems to give more focus of this being a "haunted" tour. It was more of a history lesson, which was fine, but it was not what me or any of the other girls I was with was expecting. It was nice to say I've done it, but if the other tours are more of a history lesson than actual haunted or whatnot, then I will probably save my money. Thanks.

Good, but no paranormal experiences. :(

Our tour guide really made this experience worth the money. He started our tour by saying that he'd been chased out of the jail more than once and that he hoped we had an experience with some of the spirits there, but that he couldn't guarantee anything. In other words, I appreciated how matter-of-fact he was. While we did not end up having any close encounters of the paranormal kind, we did get to see some pretty gruesome-looking replicas of torture devices and heard some awesome ghost stories! Overall, I'd say this tour is a good investment of $18 and 45 minutes.
