Open Mind? - Worth the time!

My 13-year old daughter, her friend, and myself took the tour. Suzanne was the guide, and she was great! It began storming outside just as we met at the Jail. We went into the second chamber, led by Suzanne. She had just started talking about the first woman that was hung there, when the girls and I heard a female voice whimpering. The sound was very clear; and sounded three times. A man and his wife heard it too, and turned to see where the sound was coming from at the same time as we did. No one else in the group heard it - so I know it wasn't a planted sound effect.. It was so cool! The hair on the back of my neck stood up. Two suggestions for future tour-goers: 1. Drive to the bulldog office, don't walk to it. 2. Go on the tour with a truly open mind.

Best chance to be creeped out

If you are looking for an experience that puts you into the middle of the action this is the tour for you. This was the second time we have been to this jail and both times we had an experience with the supernatural or something that we could not explain. The only complaint we might have is both times we toured different parts of the jail and unfortunately did not get a chance to go into the area where we had the last contact so we could compare and see if it happened again. Even if you don't have an actual contact with something supernatural you will definately be completely creeped out by just being in the dark where so much death and dispair have occured. All I can say is you must go and judge for yourself but chances are you won't leave disappointed.

Not as expected by other reviews read.

After reading other reviews on this tour my friends and I decided to check it out since it was voted one of the best, we were very disappointed in the tour. The graveyard tours are much better than this one.

I loved the tour of the old city jail and all the stories of it's history. Truly amazing to listen to how the incarcerated were treated back then compared to how it is today. The building itself needs to be seen if you are going to Charleston, wether you decide to visit the ghosts or just walk by to see the exterior structure. Well worth the tour.

Entertaining Tour Guide, neat history!

I went with a group of 3 friends in all. Our entire tour group was 20 people. The tour guide, Suzzane, was excellent. I think she made it more scarry by the stories than being in the building itself. I was dissapointed that it seemed to end abruptly. You see two rooms in the jail on the tour, I thought you would be guided to more areas. However, the guide did say while were in the last room we could venture up the stairs on our own while she was speaking. We didn't do this, as we thought once she was finished with that room we'd go to more areas. Also, you were apparently more inclinded to have a sighting or something w/less people. I was afraid to go anywhere without the WHOLE group. Its was a bit creepy. The history surrounding it is very interesting as well. A couple did venture outside of that room and saw a shadow pass in front of them and captured a bright orb on their camera with a smiling face (words of the guide who then examined the picture). If you're into the paranormal, you should go. If not, stay FAR AWAY!!

The atmosphere was scary. Our tour guide Suzann was absolutely the best tour guide I've ever had. I've been on several ghost tours in Charleston and other cities and I could say she was the best. The only bad part was it didn't last long enough!

the interior was a little disappointing, since it was under renovation, but very neat and the tour guide was fantastic and very enthusiastic! would definitely like to try another tour again soon!

I wish I would have written down the girls name who did our tour, but she was great, she told stories about the jail, with other history fact mixed in. I can tell that she put a lot of her own time into her tours to let us know about things in the past. I'm not sure about the other tours, but I would do this again, maybe they will open more parts of the jail kathy we went on Sunday Feb.15th, 7:00, I want to say her name was Ginger, could be wrong

I myself love the unexplained so I was excited before we even got there, but my husband is not so convinced of the unexplained. But after this experience he will think twice before dismissing the thought that there is something else out there. Our tour guide was excellent!! We didn't get to see as much of the jail as i had hoped but what we captured on film makes up for that! We had several unexplained pictures that were taken and didn't realize what we had until after the tour and looking at them more carefully. Take lots of pictures!!! My husband and I had seperate cameras and we had several shots from the same location with different results! this was by far the best thing we did here in Charleston!!
