Old City Jail Tour Very Entertaining, Informative |

This tour was a good one. In addition to relating one of Charleston's many ghost stories our tour guide provided a lot of interesting historical information about the jail. It surprised me to know the gallows used for private hangings was still on the grounds, until Hurricane Hugo dispatched it in September 1989. Apparently the gallows could not be tampered with by people because of its historic nature.
The story of the serial killing couple was especially intriguing.
Our guide's stories of her personal experiences in the jail were a plus.
In addition, the guide told us about the two-story house next door, which she said was probably more haunted than the jail. |

We had been looking forward to this tour for quite sometime. The good thing, was that we didn't have any expectations. However, when I think of "Ghost Tour" I think of ghots or something supernatural. Our tour guide was Ginger. I really can't say anything bad about her! She acted like she really enjoys her job. However, the tour was more of a history lesson (which probably isn't her fault AT ALL.) We were hoping for something a little more spooky.. something that would scare us a little bit! Instead, it was just a history tour. I am not saying that it was bad.. But it just wasn't what we were hoping for. If you're interested in learning about the history of this particular Charleston jail, then this tour is for you! If you're wanting to go on more of a spooky tour, you should probably try to find something else.
Also, the people who work in the office at Bulldog Tours weren't the nicest of people. But if Ginger does your tour, you will like her! |

I took my 13 year old daughter to this and we had a great time. We took the tour at night which was awesome. The tour guide gave us lots of information on the history of the building & people in the jail, stories about prisoners, who owns the building now, ect. We found it to be creepy and exciting inside the jail. My daughter walked away with wanting to learn more about a certain prisoner by the name of Lavinia Fisher. |

I really liked the tour, however, I would have liked to have seen more scary things and gone on a longer tour... possibly to the basement. Our tour guide was wonderful, but talked really fast, so it was hard to understand a lot of it. We had a very big group which also made it very difficult to see. There were a few things that I would have liked to seen on the walls that I could not. I would also recommend not sending adults with children. Our group was full of maybe 13 year old girls would acted silly the whole time, so it was difficult to get the full effect. Overall, we had a good time though. |

WE HAD A GREAT TIME. OUR TOUR GUIDE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE. WOULD LOVE TO DO ANOTHER TOUR WHEN WE ARE BACK IN TOWN. |

My anticipation of being scared was worse than the actual.
Our tour guide Susan was fabulous!!! She has a great voice for this tour and she certainly knows her facts about the jail. We did not experience any spirits but I do beleive they reside in and around the jail. |

We loved our tour guide Lawerance. He had great stories to share and was very entertaining.
I would definatly recommend the jail house tour. |

A group of 8 friends recently attended the jail tour. We all agreed that the tour was a little disappointing. Although our tour guide had a lot of interesting facts to share, he spoke very quickly and it was hard to process everything that he was saying. It almost seemed as though he wanted to finish the tour as quickly as possible. The tour ended very abruptly and there was no time for qeustions. We felt that the tour was over-priced at $17. A more realistic value would have been closer to $10. Despite all the negative comments, the jail is an interesting place to tour, but don't expect to be scared as the tour is just factural info. |
