The Charleston Haunted Jail Tour

The tour of the haunted jail was ok, nothing special. I went with my husband while on our honeymoon in Hilton Head SC. The jail is quite small, and we only for to see 3the or 4the rooms since the location doubles as a school for "building restorations. Students are fixing up the jail so there were projects everywhere, and many rooms blocked off. The tour guid was nice, i wish there were more "scary" stories to go along with the tour. I am a person afraid of my own shawdow, and 88 did not find the tour spooky in the least. Overall, the tour was ok, an interesting way to fill a hole in your evening. (The horse and buggy tours were much more fun and informative!)

The tour was very well done. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the jail and had a lot of invested emotion into the people of it's past.

The tour was quick and seemed very scripted. The last room we went in to, the guide turned out the lights and gave a personal story of interactions with ghosts, this was the best, not chilling part of the tour. In the end, he describes the school that now resided in the prison and it kind of tool away from tour

Our tour guide Braxter was extremely knowledgeable and was more than willing to answer any questions we had. Me and my friend enjoyed listening to the history of the jail and finding out interesting things that we never would have thought about the jail. Any lastly, how can you NOT give a tour where both of you have experiences? From entering the jail with 2 lighters and leaving with only one, to having your ponytail yanked.

I was initially very excited about this tour. I think if you're looking soley for a history lesson, and none of the cheesy hyped up Halloween type stuff, then this tour is definitely for you. I think I, personally, was looking for more of a combination of both. The tour is simply that, a tour of the jail (actually just a few rooms, half of which are unaccessible or too dark to see) that is guided by a tour guide talking about the stories of convicts that used to reside there. I'd say it is a good idea if you're going to be in Charleston for a while and need to to kill some time, but if you're looking for things to do over a short weekend vacation, I wouldn't put it at the top of my 'to-do' list.

The tour providing a look into the history of Charleston that I don't normally hear about.

In my opinion this tour is worth the money. Especially considering a decent portion goes to support the college who works inside it.

I wish we were given more time inside the jail.

I was very excited about doing this tour. I have never been on one and I wanted to capture something on camera. It was neat being in an old jail with a lot of history within the walls. My girlfreind and I had a good time. I captured a bunch of orbs in different photos. The guide was really good and made it a fun time. I want to go back and do it again.

The tour was perfectly creepy and the guide was fabulous!
