Not Worth It

We all thought this tour was terrible. Many of us have been on ghost tours before that were quite entertaining. This one was neither scary nor entertaining. The stories were laughable at best.

we had a great time on the tour. The leader was informative about the history and gave great insight to the history of the city.

Better than advertised

great historical description of jail. Wasn't expecting much as far as "ghosts" but the historical background and actual building were well worth the cost of admission.

My 10 year old grandson and I both enjoyed this tour very much. It was informative and exciting. My grandson is hoping he will have caught some ghosts on film!

Our tour guide did a great job teaching us about the history of the jail and was also very friendly and easy for the group to talk to. Very very interesting building with an amazing history behind it. We went at 7:00 before it was dark, so we didn't get the full spooky effect, but it was still definately worth doing! Still inspecting my photos to see if I caught anything interesting...

Interesting, but somewhat disappointing

The jail tour is interesting, but overpriced. We went after dark and there were no lights in there at all. Some dim lighting would have enabled us to see some of the detail in the building. Our guide had some good stories, but they were mostly just stories, not necessarily based on historical fact. Overall, I'm glad we went, but it was nearly $80 for my family of four, which is pretty pricey for 45 minutes in a dark building.

Fun and spooky date night!

This tour was a fun way to take in more history of the city. By going at dark, the jail seemed even more scary. Susanne, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and seemed to take the hauntedness very seriously which made it more believable. I recommend taking a bike tour ride back to downtown, especially at nighttime.

Hot and dark- has potential to be better

I was ready for the tour to be over after 5 minutes. The temperature was way too hot, very uncomfortable- I think people should be warned in advance of buying the tickets of this prospect. It was too dark- it was difficult to see my way going down the stairs and didn't seem at all safe. Once in the rooms, it was pitch black. Being so hot and being able to see very little (except other peoples camera flashes in my face), I just didn't get much out of the experience.....it was a big distraction that prevented me from listening to the guide. I would suggest the use of candles or some other type of dim lighting. Also, there were "modern day" items (a hand-cart, some hammers and caulking) scattered throughout the jail that could be removed to make the experience more authentic. In terms of the temperature, I realize the use of fans would take away from the experience, so some honest information up front about the temperature would be very appreciated!
