The Charleston Haunted Jail Tour

This tour was great if you are just going to hear about the place. As paranormal investigators, we were very disappointed at all the human activity that was disturbing to any spirits or entities that were normally in the jail. The jail itself has extraordinary possibilities for investigation. We just need to have the jail to ourselves for a true investigation that isn't contaminated by human sources. I absolutely recommend toe tour for the non investigative person, it is rich with history and perspective. We will be back in the summer when the human element is removed from the jail, and then be able to do an investigation as it should be done. Looking forward to coming back, Mark E Painter

We had a great time during the tour and got a lot of neat pictures ( no ghosts, though ). The tour guide (I can't remeber his name) was very knowledgable and seemed to have a good time while with us. The only thing that was a little dissapointing was the time factor. I really thought the tour would last longer than it did and we would have a little more time to take pictures, but it seems that we had to hurry through to make room for the next tour coming in. Over all, I give the guide a 10 for 10 and the tour itself a 8 for 10. Had a great time, it just didn't last long enough.

Our guide was great, friendly and informative. She knew the old jail well and obviously enjoyed her job. I think this is a MUST visit!

Susann, who was our tour quide, made the experence very enjoyable. Her ability to tell the history and stories of the jail with such enthusian presented a lively experence. We would definately take this tour again if she is our guide. I wish all guides could be as good as she was.

The tour guide was great with interesting stories, but the place itself did not feel haunted and we did not experience anything unusual. The orbits mentioned by the tour guide were a little over done; the pictures with orbits are 99% of the time always referred to as a dust residue not a GHOST APPEARANCE. If I were the tour guide I would not tell the tourists that those are the ghosts...they are not! We have watched plenty of GHOST HUNTING programs and in most of them they only proved 1 orbit was actually something more than dust.

My only complant is that we went on a night time tour and it was interrupted a great deal by a student that was griding away and weilding. You would think it would be possible to schedule student time around tour times or vice versa. Other than that we had a great time!!

This tour was great. Our guide was very informative and energetic and definitely kept our attention.

Crazy jail ghost tour that left us begging for more... Shannon Delray Beach

I did this tour because I had fun on the dungeon tour the night before. I was disappointed in the jail tour because of the amount of noise the art students were making in the basement. The sounds of hammers and a table saw were very distracting. Also our guide wasn't very good. She was only interested in telling her stories but not really interested in talking with the people on the tour. I felt like she just wanted to do her job and have us leave. If I can find a tour time that the art students won't be present and a better tour guide I will try this tour again.

I would recommend this tour for most people who enjoy a good ghost story. We had an excellent tour guide who was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about giving the tours. We loved the various stories she told us as we walked around the outside and inside of the jail. There was definitely a presence to the place as you walk around. This tour was the highlight of the day, and I would most certainly take it again!
