The Charleston Haunted Jail Tour

We did the jailhouse tour with our two 14 year old girls and 9 year old girl, the tour was great! Glenn was our guide and he kept it interesting and was even able to hold the attention of 2 teenage girls!!! It was really spooky and the history made it better!! We even captured some awesome "ghostly" pictures. Would highly recommend!

This event was just okay. I enjoyed hearing the history of the jail, along with the hisorical background of the area ... but it wasn't truly a tour of the prison. Granted, I chose the later 'tour' ...at night, thus the entire experience was in the dark ... but I honestly expected to be able to SEE the inside, versus only via camera flashes and one lone flashlight that the guide provided. Our guide was very entertaining and knowledgable, which I did appreciate. My main gripe is that I didn't 'tour' the jail, as expected and hoped for..... 3 stories of previous inmates in 3 rooms of this huge place should not be labeled a tour. It was a bit of a let-down.

Our group was very disappointed in this tour. We took the Ghost & Graveyard Tour last year which was much better. This tour takes you into a hot jail and you see 3 rooms- which are dark but not scarry. We heard some stories about prisoners but nothing about actual sitings. Be wise and spend your money elsewhere!

I was so excited since we had just finished the Darkside tour to check out the jail, however it turned out to be not as spooky as I wanted it to be. Our guides also told very different stories about the same people so we were left wondering who was right. The jail has been part of the college and having classrooms/artful projects in there makes it not as believable. In my opinion I liked the history tour better.

The jail is beautiful and mysterious in itself! I loved walking through it and hearing of the prisoners and wardens that came through while it was in service. It was very interesting and i would love to tour it again and get more pictures and history about it.

tour guide and tour was good, but seemed to be more of a history tour than a ghost tour. seemed to be a lot of remodeling being done and it took away from it being a ghost tour and made it more history instead. would love to see it during daylight or could have been a little more light to invision what the rooms were like as the guide was talking.

The haunted jail in out from the rest of downtown which adds to the spooky ambiance. The feeling of abandonment only adds to the experience. My guide was a pleasant young lady named Susan who obviously has had much experience in spinning folk-lore to tourist. I certainly enjoyed this tour can highly recommend this one to anyone interested in "haunted" buildings. While I didn't see any anomalies on this particular night, I would never wish to spend the night in that old jail.

I did not enjoy the tour guide. He gave more of a history lesson than a ghost tour. Enjoyed You tube tour much better and I would have saved $40.

A great, fun tour led by Susan B, who was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. I wish it lasted a little longer, but the jail and its grounds are only so large.

W had fun on the tour but the guide was a little over dramatic.
