The Charleston Haunted Jail Tour

Enjoyed our guide he was very informative. Any one who enjoys history, and some spooky stories would very much enjoy this tour.

Glen was a great tour guide, tailoring the tour to what we wanted to hear about. Our group was very shy, so my girlfriend and I spoke up. As locals, we wanted more of a focus on the history, and that's what we got! The tour finishes in a student workshop on the bottom floor, which kind of killed the mood with the fluorescent lights. Overlook that and it was awesome! Glen made the tour though, so I hope you're lucky enough to get him as a guide.

I recently purchased tickets to the haunted jail for myself and my boyfriend for his 30th birthday. It was incredible! We both had a great time, even though we never saw or felt anything of the paranormal. The history behind the jail was fascinating and was enthusiastically delivered by our tour guide, Glenn. He was a lot of fun to listen to and made the tour! I would gladly take this tour again, and highly recommend it to other tourists.

It was a great experience for my boyfriend and I to share. Although i can't remember his name, the tour guide was awesome. He is shorter with brown hair. He made the tour very interesting!! I highly reccomend this tour.

The jail tour was really fun! Only downfall was the school stuff in the jail that took away from the experience. Also would have liked to go into more rooms. Thank you to stephen our tour guide for a great tour!

The guide did a good job trying to pump up the setting and the fact that it was a dark, rainy, night helped the mood. I'm not much on the supernatural but my date reported the next day that she had a hard time falling asleep. As an example of man's inhumanity to man it was well worthwhile.

From the moment the tour began, it was really very enjoyable !! Glenn ( our guide ) was VERY informative, enthusiastic and was genuinely concerned with our well being...the jail IS 200 yrs old, and there are safety concerns. I was very impressed with the tour !! We will definitely do it again, and will request Glenn as our guide, he's terrific !! I recommend this tour to anyone who's looking for something enjoyable to do in Charleston !!

Creepy building cool stories. I wanted it to be longer though. We only saw 3 rooms.

We had a nice time and the duration of the tour was just right any longer and it would have started dragging. The stories were interesting and the guide knew her stuff.

The building and history are fascinating. The guide was knowledgeable, but his delivery was a little too energetic/rehearsed (a personal opinion). The tour group was large, had the guide only had a few attendees, I'm sure he would have performed much better. The tour is also a little confined - you are limited to viewing only four rooms. However, the rooms are fairly creepy - there is definitely a sense of terror filling the jail. Plus, the proceeds go to help the local universities art/history restoration program. I have heard from another tour guide that the Jail tour is much "scarier" than traditional Charleston ghost tours. Bottom-line: If you have a free night on an off-season night, book the tour. If you have other options of places to visit in Charleston, and it is tourist-season, consider booking elsewhere.
