Disappointing

Part of the old jail has turned into a school and on part of the tour that you are supposed to be in the infirmary, its really the current day class room with the work of architecture students and it just takes away from the mystery and scariness of the tour itself.

We had such a great time on the jail tour. There was a group of at least 15 people. The tour guide Glen, I think was his name, was awesome. I was more into the supernatural but most of the others in the group were into the history. I am not from SC and enjoyed the historical background and information given within the jail tour. I would recommend this activity to everyone.

This was one of the best tours I have ever been on. We first saw the jail on television on one of those paranormal investigation shows. I am glad to say that the jail did not disappoint. We had an awesome tour guide as well. We are planning a return trip in a few weeks and the jail tour with Bulldog tours is at the top of the list.

great stories and history but inadequate time.

I suppose I expect too much but 20 min. in and out is not worth the money. The history is compelling as well as the folk lore but I expected more of a Ghost investigation. The guides know their stuff and I don't blame them. They are doing what they are told. I would have paid more had I the opportunity to walk in the silent dark for 45 to 60 min with the hope of having a paranormal experience. The tour is more get em in, tell the stories and get em out before the next group.

My husband and I really enjoyed the tour. We can't wait to come back tour the jail again and do the other tours. Our tour guide was awesome. You learned alot of history while touring the jail. Thank you so much and I highly recommend this activity!

The old jail was in operation from the early 1800's until 1934. It has a dark history that makes for an interesting tour. I would recommend.

Tour guide was not appropriate for this tour

My adult son and I were looking forward to the haunted jail tour as part of our trip to Charleston. We were very disappointed!! The tour was scheduled at night as usual and being billed the "Haunted Jail Tour" we were expecting something involving ghosts which we had heard about from various sources. Instead we got a tour guide who doesn't believe in ghosts and proceeded to give a history tour. If we had wanted a history tour, we would have scheduled something in the daytime hours and saved our evening for something much more entertaining!! Since this seems to be just a job for this guide, perhaps she should get a different one!! So, we're not against Bulldog Tours, just primarily this tour guide! We went on the Graveyard and Dungeon Tour the following night hoping to get the bad taste out of our mouths. Fortunately, we had David Hinson as our guide and we could not have been happier. David is an excellent story teller and we thoroughly enjoyed this tour! Comparing experiences, I believe my money should be refunded for the jail tour!

It was great . I never had a real creepy feeling but the history behind the place was very interesting and the ghost stories were pretty good as well.
