fun tour

My husband and I went on the haunted jail tour, and had a great time. The stories told about some of the prisoners were all very interesting, and knowing that there are several shows that have been done on the jail makes it more believable that there very well could be some ghostly activity going on in there. However, after reading several chapters of a book mentioned during the tour by our guide ("Abode of Misery" available in Kindle edition fyi) I am finding several discrepancies between the information provided on the tour vs the book. Perhaps that would be simply because the tour is for entertainment purposes, and the stories told during the visit to the jail are a lot more interesting than the ones (that have been researched) in the book. Tales that have been passed down for generations and can make the hair on the back of ones neck stand up while hearing them while in a dark room with a small group of people are a lot more interesting. Regardless of what I have now read, I definitely recommend going on this tour; you won't be disappointed, and who knows, maybe you or someone in your group will have a ghostly encounter to share with us in a review. :)

This was one of the best haunted jail tours we've taken. Our tour guide, Sean, was wonderful. He knew his stuff and told the stories very well. He made the jail seem even creepier with the stories he told.

The darkest parts of history often involve terrible deaths and restless souls. Here, we learned about the awful conditions that prisoners at the jail had to endure, as well as some notable inmates and their stories of life, capture, and execution. Fun stuff!

One of the female prisoners there loved jewelry. There was a lady in our group who's bracelet came unhooked multiple times. Tour guides are very informative.

Highly recommend the haunted jail tour! Sean, the guide, was extremely knowledgable and did a great job explaining the history of the jail. If you want a spooky tour, this is the one!

If you want to visit a place that will give you the creeps this is it. This is NOT your average ghost walk. The building reeks with horror.

I found this tour to be rather interesting. I would have to say that I'd probably not be all that content with a jail stay there. :)

Lost history

I was extremely disappointed at how much the original structure has been altered to facilitate its use as a school. If you want to truly understand any society, a clear window is the way they treat criminals and deal with crime. This is a historical landmark, and should be treated as such. I equate this to remodeling the pyramids of Egypt to create space for classes. The loss of history outweighs the gains of a convenient place to do business.

Interesting but not a 'ghost tour'

Very interesting about the history and about the architectural renewal school that is currently using the buidling, but I expected more ghost stories.
