Not what I expected

I didn't enjoy the tour for the tasting. It was more of a historical tour of Charleston than a tasting tour. Would not recommend unless a history buff who would love learning the food history of Charleston without the food. The tour guide had a wealth of knowledge, I will say that. You will go to the Bakery, the tea shop which has samples anyway, and Nicks barbeque. I did learn Cook's, offers cooking classes, which I would not have found out otherwise.

This was the best part of our trip to Charleston. Every restaurant that was recommended was great. We had so much fun on the tour and tasted some really good food.

This tour was interesting, fun, and yummy. Our guide was incredibly informative. The walk was reasonable in length and all of the eating staffs were pleasant. I liked most of the food samples and thought it was a fair sized portion. The candy shop was my favorite and also the low country. Thanks for a unique tour opportunity

Grit converts

Coming from Northern Ohio the only grits that we see look and taste like walpaper paste. The first stop, where we learned about stone ground grits and had a sample changed that long held opinion. Our guide Nancy was knowledgable and share a lot of history about the city and how it shaped the food and restaurant business. The pace of the tour was good and the stops provided a place to sit. Weather was not an issue the day of our tour but I noticed that the distance outside between stops was short. the longest walk took advantage of an air conditioned mall. We did the tour our first full day in Charleston, because of it we both ordered Shrimp and grits (at different restaurants) and ended up bring home a 2 lb. bag of stone ground grits. We also have a list of enough restaurants that we did not have time to try to have us planning our next trip.

Fran, our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the Charleston historical information as well as the tastes of Charleston. The staff at the places visited were friendly and everything we tasted was delicious. The tastes were sufficient enough that all we wanted after the tour was dessert for lunch.

The tour was excellent. Our tour guide was great. She knew the history of the area and provided many examples of the type of foods that were utilized throughout the south and the Charleston area. The restaurants and food outlets we visited were quite nice and very accommodating. No one in our group was hungry for lunch! Definitely recommend it for anyone visiting the area.

Kathy was great as a tour leader. She presented things interestingly. She included items from A to Z. I would recommend this tour to everyone interested in things culinary, which is why we come to Charleston in addition to the history.
