Kathy, our tour guide was engaging and provided much history of Charleston food in this stroll around the market square area. Worth the $, though I wish the spice store had been open after the tour, and the last stop was disappointing. The tour began with a bang and ended with a fizzle, but again, wonderful tastes and history of the region. |

The food was a smaller portion of the tour than I thought, which was actually better. I got to not just mindlessly eat random food, but Mary provided the history to each area and each type of food we ate. It was like getting two tours for the price of one. Charleston had a lot of food start from that region and spread to the U.S., which is something I found fascinating. I also learned what Southern food, as opposed to Low Country food means. Lots of fun! |

Our leader (Cathy) was well-organized, companionable, knowledgeable about Charleston history and culinary history and wildly entertaining. We all ended up in a bar swapping recipes while a thunderstorm hammered overhead. What fun! |

I was very dissapointed with the tour...there was very little to sample and it turned into a shopping trip at cooking supply stores....not exactly what I think an overpriced paid tour should include....I am a eater not a chef...I wanted to try samples from different resturants not shop for cooking utensils. |

This was a great tour which was quite informative. I was very impressed with the guide's knowledge base in not only local food in general, but the local history as well. |

Our guide was certainly knowledgeable and familiar with the subject of the tour. We appreciated that she not only knew the different foods, she also prepared them and enjoyed them at home and her family had for generations. The walking tour was not at all strenous and the variety of locations was good. A very pleasant surprise was going to the Dixie Supply Bakery Cafe. This is a small operation beside a convenient store that I would never have gone in. However, the line was out the door with people waiting to get in. We were able to walk right in and sit at a reserved table. The food sample which was stone ground grits and sweet potato bread was wonderful! I am not a fan of grits but it is obviously because I had never had real grits. It was soon very apparent why the line was out the door. Over all, it was an enjoyable tour with a very knowledgeable and pleasant guide. |

This was a phenomenal tour. A rich, historic background on the food influences of Charleston. Ranging from grits and sweet potato cornbread to benne wafers and spice shops. Well worth the money. |

Nice little trip around some of the restaurants and food related stores. Depends on the time of the tour and tour guide but gives a little overview of center of Charleston and food. Could have been $10 less expensive, but otherwise I would recommend for the 2-3 hour tour. |
