Could have been better.

I have been to Charleston many times, yet this was the first tour I have taken here. I thought that the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable; however, I wish more of that knowledge would have come through. I learned all sorts of new "tidbits" of information: Alleys, Fire Insurance Tags, etc. Unfortunately, I felt the info was absent a focus, and too scattered...many times we would hear "I just remembered..." Good because my wife and I already knew alot about the city; I would be cautious if this is your first time.

I would highly recommend this tour. Butler was very knowledgable and gave our group a wonderful history lesson prior to the actual stroll.

Our tour guide was wonderful... very knowledgeable about all things Charleston. She gave us interesting facts and history without resorting to any of the ghost stories, myths or local legends you get on other tours. We got out of the tourist hot spots and into the beautiful old neighborhoods. This is exactly the kind of tour we were looking for.

Informative and Exciting

This tour was very interesting. My family did not know much about Charleston or it's history but we certainly learned a lot. The architecture is phenomenal. We learned so much about the history of the single and double houses, the reasons for the "piazza" and the importance of preserving the original buildings. Just viewing the beauty of the wrought iron gates and ornate columns was worth the price of the tour. I believe you learn more and observe more on a walking tour because you actually take the time to stop and view the details. Our tour was in June and it was not too hot outside, but we had an excellent tour guide that made sure that all of our stops were in the shaded areas anyway. This made the tour all the more enjoyable. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring a bottle of water and, depending on the time of year, bring a jacket and/or an umbrella. Don't forget your camera because the houses are beautiful and the scenery is gorgeous. If I had to pick one negative thing about the tour, it would be waiting for the tour ahead of you to move on. However, it was never a long wait and it only happened at a couple of stops. All in all, it was one of the better tours we have taken.

I really enjoyed the walk. When I first booked this I kind of wondered how much we would see on a walking tour, my answer to that question is A LOT! So much detail, so many interesting stories. This was a fantastic tour. Thank you!

The stroll was interested it was not exactly what we had in mind, we thought we would be going into buildings. Instead we just walked around the outside and she gave us some history of the buildings.

I really enjoyed this tour. Me and my daughter traveled 2 hours while on vacation to take this tour. I really enjoyed the wealth of information and wonderful personality of both of our tour guides. I has encouraged me to revisit Charlestown next year when I am on vacation so that I may find our even more information than I received on the day of tour.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Charleston. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Charleston and made the morning fun. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history and sights of Charlston.

Decent but not great.

Some of the information was very good, but the guide didn't seem to connect with our group very well. She also got pretty bogged down in some questions that other folks asked, and I felt like it was to the detriment of other things we might have learned about things we were passing by at the time.

Seeing the Beautiful Sights!

I really enjoyed this guided walk. The tour guide knew where to take us to show us the most beautiful homes and tell us the most interesting facts about the city's history. I found my tour guide, JoAnn, to be extremely knowledgeable even about the areas where we were not touring. She had a wealth of information about the city's history. My husband was in business meetings during the day, so I went on the tour by myself, but later in the evening I took him out to the areas we had been and relayed all the facts to him that I could recall. I was impressed to find out that all tour guides have to pass a test put forth by the city in order to ensure the accuracy of the information that they are presenting.
