It was awesome! Would like to go back again. The tour could have been longer but I got some amazing pictures. Very heavy feeling in that jail. Definetely haunted. |

It was a good tour but not scarey. It was advertised as a "not recommended for small children or men that cry easily." We thought it would be scarey and then we get there and one of the first things the tour guide says is that this is not a "boo tour" it is historical. It was definitely historical, interesting and gruesome stories were told. It was not worth the money as we only got to see 3 rooms and it went very fast. |

Lot's of local history. Very interesting.
I took a picture inside the dungeon that shows what appears to be a young woman in period clothing. She seems to be coming through a door and leaning slightly to her left. Would you be interested in seeing this picture and helping me identify what or who this person might be? I don't think it is a reflection since there is no glass that I can remember being in this area. |

This was one of the most memorable ghost tours I've ever taken and one of the best things I did in Charleston! Our tour guide was fantastic. |

The tour provided us with great information about the local Charleston area and the history....I found the tour very interesting...however, our tour guide, Lane, was not overly exciting or interesting....he did not pull you in to the tour.... |

I have done this tour with Bulldog Tours once before, but it was my husband's first time. Compared to the first tour, which was great, this one was quite a disappointment. The tour guide, Neil, was very knowledgeable but could have done things a bit differently to make it much more enjoyable. For example, every time he was finished speaking/telling, he just walked off leaving us in the group staring at each other wondering if he was done and whether or not to follow him as he walked away. Perhaps if he said something such as: "OK, now we are going to head over to the oldest church in the city and walk around the graveyard." Many in the group had cameras but he didn't offer info as to the best way to take pictures (leave flash on or off?), and to take consecutive pictures standing in one spot that would show orbs. Since we took the tour on a full moon, that would have been the ideal time to emphasize the haunted aspect of the tour as opposed to informing us of history facts.
When the tour was completed, he sat down on a ledge and didn't tell us where we were or how to get back to where we started. He did offer to answer any questions about restaurants, though. Since none of us knew where we were, we had to ask HIM where in the heck we were and how in the heck did we get back. |

The city is so old and there ha to be more ghost stories and tragic happenings then the ones told by our guide. The guide was talking about stories in Edisto Island. Why? |

My girls, all 5 of them, had a blast! We have wanted to do this ghost walk for the longest and decided a 13th birstday party was an ideal time. The guide was very informative and the girls just ate up everything she had to say. I would recommend this tour for anyone!! |

We heard that this was the best ghost tour in town, so naturally we tried it first. While the scene of the City Jail held a great deal of potential, the presentation was very poor. The jail is undergoing constant reconstruction, as it was originally condemned, but there appears to be little effort to separate the construction from the tour path. As a result, it is VERY difficult to "see" how the Jail used to be. The tour guide was nice and somewhat informed of the history, but a VERY poor storyteller. I felt like the stories would have been appropriate for a high school class, not an adult tour. The group was small enough not to be a distraction, but the constant flash photography completely ruined the intended "scariness" of the experience. As a result, my wife and I were very unimpressed. Don't go here to be scared, it's just not set up for it. Like I said, it was a reasonably good History Walk, a really bad Ghost Tour. |

Driving from Kiawah Island to the center of town was very easy, public parking was right around the corner from the meeting place and our group was small and intimate. The tour guide was great - she was knowledgeable, friendly, easy to follow. The stroll overall was full of history, fun facts, lots of opportunity for pictures, discussion, questions and ended in perfect time to enjoy lunch at a local spot. This is a must-do for those new to Charleston! |

i think her name was karen or kathy, she made the tour a lot of fun; however, i think it would be a little more realistic if all the college classrooms and college supplies were contained to a couple rooms that you did not tour thru. |

With the dark history of Charleston, there wasn't any information to support that here. I had a better time on the Gullah tour of Charleston in reference to dark history, black magic, folk lore, and actual depiction of reality.
Interestingly enough for a city to have imported 45% of slaves into America. This tour didn't offer any information about them and their brutal treatment. Though it offered a story about the upper class whites, a mother that lost a child in birth, something very common in those days.
I would not recommend it to anyone. My son was very disappointed as well. |
