Would never reccommend to a friend. Waste of $$$

The "dungeon" was interesting, but you can tour it during the day as a museum for about $6. The stories were not interesting, and this tour does not involve any stops at actual haunted areas. We stopped and sat by the water while the guide told a couple tales about the bridge and we stopped in an alley for a couple more. I hardly even remember his stories. Additionally, with how much business Bulldog tours brings "the dungeon" they need to do something about the way it is presented. There were catering carts with leftover food and dirty plates blocking the entrance to the dungeon (it's basically a basement) and there were stacks of junk with sheets thrown over them in the hallway leading to the dungeon. Ridiculous.... In the end, you should definately visit the museum during the day, especially since it's one of only two places that you can see part of the original city wall. But do not even consider this tour!!!

Interesting tour

We both enjoyed the tour and learning new things about our city. But the 2 items described as being part of the tour on the website were not part of our tour and as good as our tour guide was, he was difficult to understand and hear sometimes. He had a very calm way of talking but spoke quickly and sometimes ran words together. There was much of what he said that we misssed and I noticed others on the tour straining to understand him as well. But all in all I would recommend the tour.

I would highly recommend this tour. Butler was very knowledgable and gave our group a wonderful history lesson prior to the actual stroll.

This was an excellent tour. I actually got some pictures with the spirit orbs in them. 'Hoon' Calhoun is an excellent guide, request him if possible.

Fun Tour! Guide was knowledgeable as well as humorous; answered questions and knew the history of the jail. We took the 8:00 pm tour which was just "dark" enough to add to the experience. Don't waste time looking for parking on the surrounding streets as the jail has parking on the property.

Great Tour

We took the Ghost and Dungeon tour. My 9 year old daughter really enjoyed it. No "jumpy out" parts just cool ghost stories and of course a tour of the dungeon. Our tour guide was excellent as she walked us through the alleys of Charleston. Defintely go on the 9:00 tour when it is dark and luckily we had a full moon to boot.

Tour of decorated basement not dungeon
Tue, Aug 4, 09   9:00 PM shoupsters Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This tour was not what it was made out to be. We walked through one "dungeon" which was nothing more than a open basement with little stations set up with mannequins dressed in period clothing . We excpected it to be a lot bigger and more dungeon like. We spent most of the 90 min. tour walking through the streets of Charleston listening to stories about other haunted areas around the area. Our tour guide was excellent. We would suggest you save your money and go on the tour of the old jail.

Could have been better.

I have been to Charleston many times, yet this was the first tour I have taken here. I thought that the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable; however, I wish more of that knowledge would have come through. I learned all sorts of new "tidbits" of information: Alleys, Fire Insurance Tags, etc. Unfortunately, I felt the info was absent a focus, and too scattered...many times we would hear "I just remembered..." Good because my wife and I already knew alot about the city; I would be cautious if this is your first time.

Disappointed in the "Closed graveyard"
Sat, Aug 1, 09   9:30 PM hospicern Female 40-49 Local Unspecified
Too many tour groups all at the same time, walking around each others groups. We were told that "other companies do not get into the graveyard" that it was for Bulldog customers only. Well - every person in Charleston that wanted to walk through the graveyard did. It was wide open to the general public and cost me $90.00 for 5 family members to go on a tour that we could have done without a guide. The story teller was pretty lame, and not a good story teller. Overall, very dissapointed!

Our tour guide was wonderful... very knowledgeable about all things Charleston. She gave us interesting facts and history without resorting to any of the ghost stories, myths or local legends you get on other tours. We got out of the tourist hot spots and into the beautiful old neighborhoods. This is exactly the kind of tour we were looking for.

Fun tour, good times

This tour was lead by Brooke, she was engaging with the group and was willing and able to answer questions the group had. The locations we went to were good and creepy; and while we didn't see any ghosts, we had lots of fun. I recommend this tour, the only thing I would change would be some more stops on the tour to help "shorten" the walking time. Take the tour without children, if possible, our group (all 20+) left the main office where another tour was starting with several sub-18's in the group. The chatter from that group could be heard even blocks away. I can't imagine how it would've been with children.

Boring, waste of money!
Thu, Jul 30, 09   9:00 PM rjjones Male 40-49 Local Family With Children
Very misleading, the jail only had 2 rooms we could go in. The guide was great but we were expecting something totally fun and scary!! the kids were bored to death and all said it was in their words "stupid"
