Bulldog Tours

The tour started out well with a tale of the ghost of the smokehouse, but went a little shallow in going to the Dungeon at the start of the tour. Very interesting facts and history about the ghosts of Charleston though. And finally the tour ended ubruptly in front of a cemetery without even going in to venture further and the tour guide just left it at that. Great trip in all but may have been better with a more dark and mysterious guide. Plus the tour should have ended up with the dungeon and took one through it a little more without having to worry about another tour coming along behind ours.

Our guide was very nice, knew alot about the area but he had an accent that sounded as though he was from MS or LA not from Charleston. It was hard for my date to understand him. As we later discussed it was worth the money just to be able to walk around Charleston late at night with each other with out worring about our saftey. Interesting stuff but you can only listen about brothels and such for so long. If you want to walk around Charleston late at night and be mildly entertained then I would do this tour, if your looking to be really entertained I would not recommend it.

The tour guide was a good story teller and really got us into the whole "spirit" thing. However, I think the tour was too short.

The tour seemed very short and not much of the jail was able to be viewed. The guide was knowledgeable though.

I am planning on going back. Next time I go, It will be the late tour and I will bring a flash light and camera. Very intertaining.

Our tour guide took us to a graveyard where we only got one ghost story and then told a couple little graveyard facts that had no creepiness to them at all. Then our tour guide walked us about 4 blocks down to a street intersection where because she was sweating and didn't really want to walk anymore stood for a little over an hour and told us a few ghost stories that were long, boring and not at all creepy. We really didn't have a good time and saw no haunted places.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed the tour very much. Larry, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and told the stories really well. He kept the tour very interesting by discussing historical aspects and showing us personal pictures during the tour. He had a personal touch as well by helping us back to our car. I would highly recommend this tour to others.

The information and stories on the tour were really interesting except our guide was hard to understand. He was knowledgeable, but didn't tell stories in chronological order or in a sensical way. He also had an odd cadence that made it difficult to follow his stories. We were really disappointed as we were looking forward to this tour. It would have been a great tour with a different guide.

The jail itself was very spooky and provided a very interesting experience, both historically and paranormally. The tour guide left something to be desired. She was very informative but her presentation was a little too nonchalant, almost as if she were tired of doing the tour. At the time we went the jail was under renovation so there was a lot of construction equipment lying around that took away from the atmosphere, but I suppose getting to see the jail with the equipment in it is better than it being completely closed for renovation. Overall, we would recommend this tour to others.

While getting to have private access to the dungeon was very cool, there wasn't much more to the 90 minute tour.

While the tour through the cemetery was very interesting we only toured one. We would have liked to have more time in more cemeteries.

We enjoyed the history of the building.

The tour itself was informative, interesting and fun. However, it was way too short for the amount of money we paid!

My wife and I have been on a number of ghost tours, as well as general informational tours of the areas we've visited, and this was the worst one. This was a stroll along the streets with an occasional stop at a historic building ( graveyard tour was disappointing). No ghosts (or even a chance at seeing some phenomana) and long winded stories. We had several kids in our tour and the tour guide spent most of the time talking to th kids and dumbing everything down to their level. I really suggest you not take this tour. Like I said, a very bad use of time and money!

It was neat to learn a bit about the spookier side of Charleston. I would have enjoyed a bit more history over hokey, though. The story-telling from our guide was decent enough. The tours groups were so closely shadowing each other that it was hard not to overhear the group in front or in back of you. The one in front of us seemed to be an excellent story teller when I could hear her. She was also from Bulldog so it seems it might be hit or miss with this crew. As an operation, Bulldog seemed to have it down to a science;we were in and out quickly. I know they are in the business of making money but it would have been nice to have one or two less tours heading out together. Tripping over one another really took away from the experience.
