Thanks for the great tour! What was the name of that color that is supposed to keep the bad spirits away again?

AJ was our guide and he was great. The jail tour was creepy and the history of the place was amazing. HIGHLY recommend this tour for history buffs and ghost afficinados (not many actual ghost stories, but you'll get the feel of the dead and haunted!)

The tour was very interesting covering Charleston's history and providing a good feel of the downtown.

We had a great time! The tour guide was enthusiastic about the history of the jail as well as his experience giving tours of the jail. It was very interesting although we did not get to go in a lot of the rooms or upstairs it was a very fun experience. I caught some orbes with my camera. The really cool part was when I went to take some pictures of the hallway and as soon as the flash it seemed like a huge flash came out of the display screen on my digital camera it was extremely weird. We also heard some weird noises. The only bad thing about the tour is when u get stuck in a group with a know it all whos extremely rude and continuously cuts off the tour guide as well as talking and playing around during the tour!

When we met for the tour, the guide warned us that he would frighten us with the stories he was going to tell. In fact, he said a woman had broke down into tears and, at this point, said if we didn't want to continue, we could ask for a refund. I think the woman broke down in tears from total boredom. Maybe, it was just the guide. I didn't think he could tell a good story. Initially, my group was up in front and we fell further and further behind in the group as the tour went on. At one point, my boyfriend just wanted to ditch the whole thing. I thought something better was coming and we stuck with the tour. I also thought it was odd that he didn't return us to where we started. Instead, just told us where we were located in conjunction with the Open Market and the tour was over. We were in Charleston for a very short time and enjoyed many of the other tours. This was a big disappointment.

This tour didn't have that many stops, and the stories that went along with them were not particularly interesting, and definitely not well told by the tour guide, David. I gathered from things he said that he is a retired teacher just trying to make ends meet, and he may even be aware that he's a lousy tour guide, because at the end when he offered us the comment cards, he asked that we "be nice" because that's how he makes a living. What does that have to do with anything? I think he ultimately killed the tour. It may have been better with a different guide, but I'm not so sure. David was a nice guy, but he was repetitive, and he came across really phony in his attempts to generate intrigue. I found my mind wandering, and even got to the point that I just thought: "are we done yet? Just give it up, fella." I believe in ghosts, and I walked away feeling like I'd just wasted my time walking around in the fog and drizzling rain to get handed a load of B.S. Whatever truth there may have been to those stories, he failed to convey it in a way that was worth $18. I bet he bored his students to tears, too.

I had great expectations for this tour - but they didn't pan out. It was R rated (as advertised) so it wouldn't be appropriate for young children. But more than that, it was rather depressing. I guess I had expected it to be a little more light hearted, but there was no light heartedness. Also, although our guide was knowledgeble, he had a very unusual accent that made him very difficult to understand - and he tended to speak somewhat quietly.

Our group, ranging in age from 12 to 74, thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the jail. Be aware that the neighborhood is sketchy at best. I do not advise walking from the ticket office to the tour location.

Our tour guide was very congenial, very welcoming, a fountain of information--told us so much! The one mistake was the weather--we forgot an umbrella and got drenched the last 20 minutes. Remember to check the forecast before going -overall terrific tour -both of us are happy we went and want to go back for the ghost tour.

This tour was really interesting. Our tour guide was great. From the description of the tour we expected a few more historical secrets.

I, myself, don't scare *that* easily, but I was with someone who does and we were both freaked out by the end of this tour. The guide was great. He spoke clearly, knew his material and told stories that were both from the past and recent encounters. Ultimately, who knows how much is true, but you'll walk out believing it is. I have taken every tour this company has to offer and have immensely enjoyed each one and have even done some more than once. I always learn something new. This jail tour however... I'm not sure I can handle it more than once. It wasn't so much a fakey type thing where you hear sounds or they purposely try and scare you. It was simply that the atmosphere and the matter-of-fact way that he told of his feelings and experiences and the building itself... the horrors that went on there, or prisoners so many years ago... that made you believe that if any a place was haunted, this jail was it. Very satisfied.

The tour guide did a great job. She new all the details, was a good story teller, and spoke loud enough for everyone to hear her. She also did a great job dealing with some really annoying children on the tour. I would recommend this to most everyone.
