good stories

We were a little disappointed, but it wasn't to bad. Since it's October they had to many groups going out at once. We had to wait on other groups to move or had to go around them. They were taking pictures so their camera flashes were going off while we were looking in the cemetary. This might be a better outing before or after October.

Too many groups at once

The tour was interesting and the guide was good, but it was very noisy and crowded with other tours. This was very disappointing. Took the excitement element out of it.

Terrible Tour Guide
Sat, Oct 20, 12   8:00 PM bethsteph Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
The tour guide for the Haunted Jail in Charleston was terrible. She rushed through the stories, didn't wait for everyone to gather and hear her, and in general was just not a good story teller. The jail looks really interesting from the outside, but inside there is random junk stored there, cluttering the place and detracting from the historical effect. For the price I paid, I would expect a better experience. I would not recommend for anyone to do this tour. This is a shame because there is a lot of potential for it to be a good tour, and I was really disappointed.

This was a great tour that was very factual about the history of the building and people. Left me intrigued and wanting to come back for more..

Tour could have showed more

Liked the jail so much to see but didn't get to, because it wasn't offered. This would have made the tour better to see more!

great for historic and not too spooky ghost tales

We visited with children and there were about 8 other under the age of 10 children on this tour so I believe our guide kept it even less scary for them. For our group this was perfect, but if you have teens or are a couple alone and want to be scared I would go after dark or do a spookier tour. I had goosebumps and loved being able to see everything in the graveyard and our guide was EXCELLENT! I would choose for her to be our guide even if we took a different tour. Very knowledgeable and friendly.

Not worth the money!
Fri, Oct 19, 12   9:00 PM McColley Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Don't get me wrong, the guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. However, the experience was worthless and FAR from scary, not even the least bit creepy. My girlfriends and I were extremely disappointed. We could have used the Internet and a map and made it much more fun and creepy on our own for FREE! . The Dungeon makes the tour sound awesome. We went into one room under a building for about 10 minutes. The rest was individual "sight seeing". DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Savor the Flavors is a MUST do activity...
Fri, Oct 19, 12   2:00 PM NSheeler Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We enjoyed our Savor the Flavors tour on Friday afternoon. Mary Katherine was delightful and so knowledgeable. Absolutely superb tour guide and so proud of her city. Dixie Supply Cafe and Nick's were the best. We visited Dixie Cafe on Saturday morning for breakfast. The spice store was nice but, maybe too long there and Charleston Cooks was fine but, we could try the wafers elsewhere. Just a thought. I believe you should add a tour with a stroll and Savor the Flavors or add a place that has your local Palmetto Beer. Non beer drinkers could have sweet tea. Everyone at Bulldog Tours was professional from the person who booked my tour to saying goodbye to Mary Katherine. Many thanks for a wonderful afternoon in Charleston. I would recommend this activity to anyone visiting your fabulous and historical city. Simply outstanding... Nicole

Inside the kitchens tour

We took the Chef's tour on a recent trip to Charleston and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide, Cathy, was delightful and very informative about the history of some of the foods of the South. We were able to meet several chefs at some great restaurants. They gave us a inside look at what goes on in their kitchens. Very interesting. We were able to sample some of the foods they serve in their restaurants. We actually returned to several of the restaurants during the remainder of our trip to taste more of their great food. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the wonderful city of Charleston. A very fun way to see a part of the city.

Samples of recipes a surprise
Fri, Oct 19, 12   9:15 AM tamitoms Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Great insight into the chef's side of a Charleston fine dining establishment. We only heard from one head chef as others were not available and sou chefs/assistants took their place. The head chef at Cypress was great...he even took us into the meat prep room and storage locker to explain how they use as much of the entire animal as possible. The samples of pimento cheese and shrimp. sausage and grits at Magnolias was an unexpected but delicious surprise! Took a little longer than the stated 2.5 hours so don't try to "squeeze" it into your day.

Fun and Informative

We had a great time. The tour guide really explained what went on in the jail back in the day. We didn't experience any ghosts which is to be expected with a large group of people. If you go..please turn off all cell phones so you don't ruin the experience for people like us that waited 2 months to see this.

We were expecting it to be a little scary but it was so boring. Our guide stood in one dark room after another...he looked bored too....
