Very interesting tour

My boyfriend has been there many times, but this was my first trip to Charleston, and this tour provided me with a unique way to see things I otherwise wouldn't have seen. Our guide, Jim T., was very informative, and a great story teller. The dungeon was great if for no other reason than the architecture, but it also had a rather scary and eerie quality to it. It was a good time.

would recommend, however......(see below)

We had purchased tickets on line prior to our visit to Charleston, SC. It was for a 9 pm tour on a Wednesday night. It had started to rain pretty hard when our tour started and several people were dropping off the tour right up front due to not wanting to walk around in pouring down rain. However, we had spent $36 dollars for two of us and we did not want to waste that money, so we stuck it out. We enjoyed the tour itself and the information provided (our tour guide, Barbara I think was her name, she was from Canada, was WONDERFUL at the story telling). The only thing I would recommend for future patrons is if you think it is going to rain at all, bring your own umbrella as they do not cancel tours due to weather (it was thundering and lighting and still did not cancel). I would also recommend to the bulldog tour company that perhaps they should offer umbrellas for rent (say $15 dollars, which another company has done, then if the customer does not return this umbrella, you are not out any money, if they return, then you can refund their money), or provide rain ponchos like the tour guide was wearing the night of our tour, for a charge of $5 (or whatever reasonable cost). Other than that, it was a very pleasant experience.

Fun history tour

The tour was fun and historical. It wasn't as spooky as I thought it would be. I think it was the delivery of the dialogue that made it not as spooky. I did enjoy going down to the dungeon. I learned some stories I didn't know about before. I had fun.

This is a very good tour. Our guide, Susan, was very well rounded on the history of the jail. She pointed out at the beginning of the tour that it was a historical tour, not a tour to scare you... So don't expect any evil clowns or Freddy Kruegers to come jumping out at you. We were told that this is the best ghost tour in Charleston and my wife and I fully agree. Don't forget to bring your camera... you won't regret it.

Fantastic Tour

The city of Charleston is beautiful and our guide, Lang, was very entertaining and informed. It truly is for adults though. The subject matter was, and the guides do not censor their language or terms. It lasted a perfect amount of time, and was a nice walk for anyone of any fitness level.

good history

I thought the place was pretty creepy. There was a lot of great history behind the place as well. Nothing unusual happened while we were there, but later I had some pictures developed and I believe I caught some orbs! I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who loves history and wants to explore a pretty interesting place.

Myself and my fiancee' are big on ghost stories and history, especially the Civil War. We found this tour to be an exceptionally enlightening experience and would definitely go back. The your guide, Janice, was very knowledgable and answered all questions without hesitation with very good answers and no guesswork. We will be using Bulldog again when we are back in Charleston.

Our group was relatively small so our guide made sure we knew that we could take our time and ask questions or to have him expand on anything that interested us. He made the tour interesting and had great stories. We actually asked few questions so the tour didn't go into overtime but the guide was perfectly willing, capable and enthusiastic about spending time and giving us a well rounded experience.

Ghost and Dungeon Tour

An evening walking tour with Bulldog was an excellent way for my friends and me to enjoy the town, history, and legends of Charleston. Our tour guide was friendly and knew her stuff. I will look into taking another tour next time I am in town, but perhaps through a different company because I found cheaper tickets.

This was by far my favorite tour. Our guide was excellent! He was a local who obviously had a deep interest and knowledge in the history of Charleston. He was more than willing to go deeper into any subject you had an interest in and he had keys to several sights. My only regret is that I didn't speak up about my interests in murders and those kind of corruptions. I know if I would have asked about it (or spoke up at the beginning when he asked if anyone had particular interests), he would have certainly gone more into that aspect. But he covered a wide range of topics that were truly facinating. I would definitely say if you have any interest in the darker side of history, this is a don't miss tour!

not what I was expecting

The tourguide was quite friendly and appeared knowledgeable about the history of the area - however, his pattern of talking was hard to follow at times and we very often lost track of all he was saying. Furthermore, we were under the impression that there would be more substance to the tour and that was lacking for us. To be honest, this is not something we would recommend to our friends in the future.

We really enjoyed our tour. Our guide, Barb, was very well-informed and entertaining to listen to. We caught some orbs on camera down in the dungeon! Will definitely be back to take the grave yard tour next year!

The tour was informative and was worth the money. The tour guide was very knowledgable and gave us the history on not just the buildings, but the streets, the houses and small details that are not taught in history books. You are able to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time and there were gems that you might miss if not on a formal tour.
