I was nervous going with my three children (ages 10,8,6). All five of us had a great time and enjoyed our navigator. We all are still retelling the stories. It is a perfect night for ALL ages! |

We had some family in town the week of Halloween and wanted to show them a good time. We went bar-hopping before the tour as to make it a little more interesting. The grave tour was awesome as you can't enter graves at night unless you are with Bulldog Tours. We had a blast and I would definitely reccommend it. Also, there were no whiny children! |

the whole experience was pretty entertaining and my friends that are scaredy cats were pretty freaked out. I would have liked to see more historical information and maybe some exhibits showing the way the jail used to be as opposed to just the lady slinging the flashlight around. |

Our tour guide was a great story teller. She did a fabulous job. Very dramatic and entertaining. I liked the way she used a customer to demonstrate some of the punishments given to the prisoners. My favorite part of the tour was when we were outside in the star-lit jail yard looking at the windows and artifacts that are still there.
I was a little dissapointed that we couldn't go into all of the rooms and the ones we went into were empty of the cells or bars that must have been there when it was a working jail. It was also too dark to see much of the jail. We went back the next day in the daylight to look around the outside.
I would recommend driving the 6 blocks unless you are in a large group. The closer you get to the jail the darker and more deserted the streets are. We got there so early we walked all the way back to get the car just so we didn't have to stand there in the dark for half an hour. |

We had a nice tour group size (only 14 people) with a very good guide (Stephen, I think, was his name). He was personable and kept the group quite engaged. I would definitely recommend this tour. |

First off we were advised to arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before our 7:30 tour time and then were made to wait for over a half hour - tour did not start on time as they promised it would. There were 3 tours leaving at same time and it was confusing and unprofessionally handled. There were about 20 people on our tour, which in my opinion was was too many -- and I resented that as a tall person the guide kept telling me to move to the back, as if being tall allowed me to see anything he was talking about that was on the ground. The graveyard we were bought to was better lighted than most of historical Charlston and about as scary as a box of Cheerios. The guide - a middle-aged male - had a monotone voice and no energy whatsoever. I have taken tours on this and prior visit to Charleston and was impressed that on both of the carriage tours and the harbor tours I took the guides generated excitement about the historical content of the tours and were easily making the attendees laugh and become engaged with the material -- and these other guides were highly knowledgeable. To top it off my sister and I felt really rushed from the start since we practically jogged to the graveyard from the tour's office and kept moving at a quick pace -- most likely because there was another tour entering while we were still in the graveyard. If you really want a fright look at the bill after an expenisve Charleston hotel stay or even a nice meal out. If you want history stick with one of the carriage or walking tours. This tour just completely sucked and we felt like stupid ripped off tourists. |

We had a great time. Didn't even notice when the hour passed. There is not much walking involved so don't worry about being too strenuous. We did the tour right after dinner so it worked out perfectly for our siesta.
The best part of the tour was listening to our guide telling the ghost stories. He was very, very talented. You could close your eyes and feel like you're back in history in the 1700s and 1800s. The Dungeon visit was the cherry on the cake!
One think that bother me a little was the amount of cameras flashes right on my eyes most of the time. You were highly encouraged to take as many photos as you can just in case a ghost shows up on your photo! So if you take the night tour be prepared to feel like you are under paparazzi. We just sit few steps back most of the time to deal with it.
Loved our guide (unfortunately can't remember his name). He wore a yellow jacket.
Bottom line best evening entertainment for just $16. See for yourself.

It was a fun tour full of history and facts. The tour guide was good. She knew her stuff. I would have to say that I was glad to have experienced it but once is enough. |

We were out on the street and in a parking lot for a total of four stops and four long stories. Dungeon was interesting, but we didn't even see the whole thing. There was a whole other side that we didn't get to look at.
Did not do justice to the great number of ghost stories and historic sites in the downtown area. |

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept everyone's attention very well. In the past I have been on many ghost tours in Charleston and this was by far the best one. He even stopped to tell stories and let everyone get in place before he started talking. He also paused for loud traffic or passersby, which with other tours never happened. Other ones would try and talk while they walked or would try to talk through the noise, but this one didn't. I heard a few stories I had never heard before and learned a lot. It was great, I will do it again! |

As with any Gohst tour, you would like to experience some supernatural activity. We did not feel any paranormal activity, but that was not entirely unexpected. The tour guide (Susan) was very good in her knowlede of the history of the jail and here story telling did raise the hair on your neck. I would recommend this tour if for nothing else than to get an idea of how insane the treament of prisoners was in that era (1700's - 1800's). |
