I'm sorry to say - choose another company. The Charleston Ghost and Dungeon Tour |

| I've lived in the Charleston area for 12 years and have been on numerous tours of the city, both walking and carriage, including other ghost tours. I had company from out-of-town for the Labor Day weekend and thought this would be a fun one. I had two main problems with the tour: 1) The tour itself included too few actual sights and WAY too much time spent waiting at each one. Other ghost tours I’ve been on took us off the beaten path and through the old, charming areas of downtown, stopping briefly to share tales about many different people, houses, cemeteries, alleys, etc. This tour took the first 40 minutes, mostly standing and waiting, to see two sights (the dungeon and a restaurant, both on the main thoroughfare East Bay Street). It reminded me of the queues at Disney World where you stand in one themed area then another so you don't realize how long you're standing and waiting in line (which I appreciate at Disney World, but not on a walking tour to see the sights of a city). The dungeon was definitely not worth the wait; go into any business on King Street to see a similar sight. 2) Charleston is so rich in folklore and history, it was very disappointing (especially considering how much time we stood at each stop) that the tour guide spoke adnauseam about only one person at each, concerned more with dramatic flare than with sharing stories. She seemed like a displaced actor reciting a dramatic monologue, not engaging with the group, and not wanting to be bothered or asked questions at all. I believe one of the most endearing parts of Charleston is our many enthusiastic tour guides who enjoy what they do and love sharing what they know about the city. Unfortunately, this was not one of them. I wish I could say even one positive thing but I felt completely disappointed and ripped off by this tour. I will continue to share our charming city on other tours but definitely not with this company. | ||||||

| My wife and I really enjoyed the tour. Our only thing against it was the guide spoke fairly quickly. There were stories that you may have need more background on or history reminders that he was a few sentences into before you could process what was being said. His volume was a little low too. But he spoke fairly long on most topics and I think there was enough repetition to get the gist of what was missed. He came across as very knowledgable and really respecting history in general and in particular to his city. On some other tours you may take you get some overlapping stories that other guides tell you, but his stories were often side stories others never mentioned on topica or just topics that others wouldn't hit on. I'm not good at remembering dates and details given to me as fast as they were in the tour and I feel I'd appreciate things more had I heard them again. Our Guide was Lane, I believe, if he's yours he is very good. As usual its best to stick close to him so you may hear side stories from othe rpeoples questions en route to different locations or just to hear more detail when he speaks. We thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. | ||||||

| I liked the ghost tour very much. Our guide was nice and he tried to tell us a lot of stories. We learned alot about the history of Charleston which helped us enjoy the rest of our visit. Going into the cemetary at night was fun. It wasn't scary but it creates a mood and makes the tour more fun. Now that we're home we often talk about the tour when we think back about our trip. Next time we go we plan on taking another tour. | ||||||

| We were very pleased with this tour. Julie Roberts was our tour guide, and I would highly recommend her. We wrer worried that we would have to walk in the pouring rain, but luckily the rain stopped so we only had to deal with a few sprinkles. The guide was very knowledgable and fun. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody. | ||||||

| Great fun and lots of creepy moments! Hoped to see a ghost but oh well, maybe someday. Our guide Steven had a cool skull-head walking stick, was personality-plus, and, boy, could he tell a story! We were standing in that graveyard drenched in sweat, but we still got cold chills! Not a hard walk at all, with lots of stops for story-telling. We would recommend this for everyone! (P.S. Watch out for Zoe!) | ||||||

| We loved the tour, but it is extremely hot during the summer; there is no air conditioning and no breeze through any of the windows. Take a bunch of water if you go during August! I would do the tour in the Fall when they offer to spend the night in the jail. | ||||||

| My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening tour of Charleston Ghost and Graveyards with our tour guide, Elli. He was a wonderful story teller which made the tour that much better. Not only were the facts rich with information for us but it was riveting his ability to intertwine the stories with his group. We will be returning in October with some friends and are looking forward to another tour with your company and Elli if possible. Sincerely, Christina Westbrook Burlington, NC | ||||||

| The ghost jail tour guide we had was exceptional at her job. She got me hooked on the tour before we even set foot inside the jail house. She was passionate about telling the story and setting the stage for us. To be honest I couldn't have had any more anticipation to actually get inside the jail house and start the inside tour. In the end though I was a little dissapointed with the inside tour. I was genuinely never really scared at any point, and neither was my date. I was one of the few snapping pictures constantly to try and capture any ghostly images on camera, and we didn't have a single image come out ghost positive. I am SURE that if I had caught something on camera though I would be singing a completely different tune! I think if there was a wall of ghost pictures placed outside the tour start location, where tourists could see all the ghost images over time, it would be highly beneficial towards making you believe you will really be in a jail house with ghosts. Because I didn't capture anything on film it made me wonder how true the previous ghost accounts were....even with a guide who did a great job convincing me ghosts often are felt or pictured within the jail. | ||||||

| Our tour guide was very informative, and exciting to listen to. He was an older man who grew up in the area and his story telling was fantastic. My husband and I truly enjoyed the tour and the history lesson included. I would have liked enter a few of the buildings, maybe the church where the cemetery was. I thought we'd go into more buildings, I guess. | ||||||

| I was very excited about this tour, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Our tour guide was interesting and thorough with the stories. Though I wish we could have heard a couple more, I'm glad we got a few in detail rather than many vague stories. The stories weren't exactly scary, but that wasn't really what we were looking for, although I did get chills more than once. The next time we visit Charleston, we'll definitely take another tour with this company. | ||||||

| I've been on several other ghost tours and although they haven't been able to take you inside the graveyards, they told a lot more stories and took you to more locations around town. This tour was 90mins and we heard exactly three stories. We were all disappointed. Plus, one of the stories was a story we'd heard on another tour. It was nice to be out and about in Charleston during the evening....but that's about all I can say on a postive note about this tour. I did go with Bulldog tours to the old City Jail and that was a good tour. I'd recommend that tour before the ghost walk. | ||||||

Not very scary but interesting to see... The Charleston Haunted Jail Tour |
|||||
| Thu, Aug 23, 07 9:00 PM | sabrock | Female | 30-39 | Domestic Tourist(s) | Family Without Children | |
| I think the area the jail was in was a little scarier than the jail itself (at least at night). Be prepared in the summer because there is no air conditioning inside. It was hot. I don't doubt there are spirits there as a few people did seem to get some orbs and energy rods in their pictures afterwards, but I certainly didn't see anything during the tour itself. The tour guide knew her history, but she got a little cheesy at times with trying to create this scary mood. It made me laugh more than it scared me. She also kept pacing around so much it was making me dizzy. I think I expected something a little scarier, but if you are more interested in the history of the jail, you might find it worthwhile. | ||||||

The tour needs more spook The Charleston Ghost and Dungeon Tour |

| It is considered a ghost & dungeon tour, but 1/2 of us fell asleep by the end. I guess I wanted more ghosts and a spookier tour. I should have booked the adult (rated R) tour for our group. Also it is unfair not to reimburse for extra tickets. You made $36 on our group, due to changed travel plans. I hope you tipped the guide for us! Thanks | ||||||
