| My entire family and I thought this tour was a total bust. The content was a joke. The guide gave us some very basic information about the building itself and who generally was jailed there. Beyond that, we learned only that a bunch of ghost enthusiasts have visited the jail on many occasions and sensed the presence of spirits. Not at all scary or interesting. Save your money, this tour just isn't worth it. | ||||||

| We had friends visiting from out of town and decided to take them on this tour since we had taken it before and really enjoyed it. If you think you are going to SEE an actual ghost then you might as well stay at home. The chances are slim. However if you are up to seeing the places that ghost have been sighted and listening to some of the history of this wonderful city then this is the tour for you. You may get lucky and catch a glimpse of a ghostly figure. Don't forget your camera. Our tour guide (sorry can't remember his name) was very knowledgeable. He had a great sense of humor and was really patient with the younger children (although I was really to strangle them) and did his best to keep everyone entertained. He also provided actual pictures of some unexplained figures and had personal stories to tell as well. | ||||||

neat building but tour guide went on and on

| The jail was neat but the tour guide went on and on. I thought she would never stop. Seemed as if she was just trying to fill up the 45 minutes. She had also stated that the prisioners who were held in the jail had to bear the heat and the cold without any warmth. She said that only the jailers and people who worked there were kept from the elements and had fireplaces, yet when we were in the area that housed the cells there were 4 fireplaces in each corner. It leaves me wonder what other information was incorrect. | ||||||

| Was actually spooked by the tour, but not so much that I couldn't enjoy dessert later on! Our tour guide, Suzann, was a wealth of knowledge and really seems to enjoy the tour, and takes into account the presence of children, of which there were several in our group. | ||||||

| I booked this tour with a friend for us and our three daughters. The girls are 14, 14 and 11. We really enjoyed this tour. Anna was our tour guide and she did a very good job. She told stories as well as answered questions and offered suggestions for stuff for us to do on our own. She didn't walk too fast or slow but kept the group at an even pace. She ended the night by the waterfront park where we sat and she told us the story about Edgar Allen Poe and the poem he wrote for Anna Ravenel which was very interesting and something the girls could relate too as they have all heard of that poem. Overall, it was a very good experience and I recommend it. | ||||||

| Overall, my son and I enjoyed the jailhouse tour, but would liked to have been able to see more areas of the jail. The more areas you spend time in, the more chances to be able to encounter spirits. Also, there was a lot of clutter in the basement creating somewhat of a safety hazard in the dark. Other than that, we enjoyed the tour. | ||||||

| Went on an 8pm tour with my 3 kids, ages 14, 11, 9 on Tues 4/5/09. My kids enjoyed our tour guide (forgot her name!), who made the tour interesting and fun for them. She used my son as a demonstrator for the hanging ropes, which made it especially fun for him. It wasn't too scary - just a bit - for my 9 year old. It was a bit pricey, but thought it was a unique experience for them and would make Charleston memorable. My only negative comment is that it is unnecessarily difficult to have to check in at the Market office 45 minutes prior to the start of the tour at the jail, which is 6 blocks away - and it's 6 blocks that I wouldn't want to walk because the neighorhood is questionable. I drove my car to the check-in location and left it at a parking meter - parking is very difficult around the market - then drove to the jail, which had free parking. It was pitch black - no lights in the jail - except for the tour guide's flashlight. Bring your camera and hope to get some Glowing Orbs in your photos - we did not, but others in our group did. We took some video too - of my son in the hanging ropes - so we could convey a sense of it to mom back at the hotel. | ||||||

| We really enjoyed the haunted jail tour. Our tour guide, I wish I could remember her name, was awesome. She made it really fun and the sudden jumps she would make and the stories/history she gave were interesting. We are planning on going back and taking another tour, possibly through the cemetary....maybe.....yikes..... | ||||||
