My sister and I love to go to Charleston and also share a love of food and cooking so we decided on this tour..We both came away feeling a little decieved by the description as there was actually very little food involved. We certainly didn't expect meals but maybe a better variety??Other ladies in our group stated it was not what they expected so I know it wasn't just us.I wouldn't recommend this tour simply because it is overpriced! My husband and grandson took the pirate walking tour and said it was wonderful! We will do that one next time!!

Interesting Tour of the Eerie Side of Charleston
Sun, Mar 25, 12   7:30 PM mrollins Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Our tour guide, Dave, wove a sense of humor with a resident's knowledge of Charleston and its ghostly tales. He spun stories of hauntings, and then gave us plenty of time to take pictures. Many of us even managed to get photos filled with "undebunkable" orbs, shadows, and mists in graveyards, alleyways, and even a church tower. Our group had a 25 year range of ages, but the tour held all of our interests. We would take the tour again, and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Susan was a wonderful guide. She was excited about Charleston, gave some great insight into history and current traditions of Charleston. I enjoyed listening to her and following her around town. The food we tested was spectacular.

This was a great tour - well paced, packed with information, and great tastings. Brooke was the perfect hostess for your great city. I would even do this one again!

This is a great tour. The guide was so much fun and hilarious. We learned alot more than what the musuems tell you. It as very interesting to learn about the darker past.

one dungeon, no grave sites, nice city walk

pretty lame tour for the money. Maybe if we were a local group the story about the bridge and newspaper clipping would have been more exciting. I was anticipating graveyards in addition to the dungeon. Tour guide had a lot of enthusiasm but it was uninteresting. would not recommend - sorry

Informative and personable tour guide. Would never have seen the variety of restaurants if I had not taken this tour. Tour gives a nice sampling of different elements of low country food. Other people on tour were very congenial, great inerraction with group members. Out of our group of 11, 8 people were from Chicago (we did not know each other previously) and 3 were from Alabama. The Chicagoans enjoyed the Alabamans' insight to the food we were tasting. What better way to see the way the people of a city live than by tasting the foods that are unique to their culture!!!!

A Highlight of Our Charleston Visit

My wife and I have an interest in food and were looking for new experiences. We saw the Savor the Flavors tour online and it seemed to be worth a try, especially after reading some reviews from attendees. We were pleasantly surprised not only in the way we were greeted when we checked in, but also with our guide Cathy. She was recommeded by others on the tour so we requested her and were glad we did. Cathy was very informative about the history of Charleston and the origins of many of the dishes. She obviously had a great relationship wtith those at the various establishments we visited. Though the overall amount of food sampled at any one place is just a "snack", by the time we were finished we did not need lunch. Though the tour is 2 1/2 hours, it is done at a leisurely pace and is all covered within a 5 - 6 block area. Definitely would recommend this tour for anyone who has an interest in food and ask for Cathy's group.

good informative tour

I definitely did my research before booking a ghost tour and this one had the best reviews! My overall consensus was that none are 'scary' like we like but still wanted to try. Cathy was an excellent tour guide and started right on time. Check in was fast and easy too from purchasing online. Visited 2 churches with graveyards and spoke of neat facts. My husband and I were very disappointed about half way through the tour, 4 party goers walked up on the tour and joined, were very rude (laughing, singing, jokes) that we confronted them, didn't stop, and eventually fit into another tour that walked past us so that definitely ruined our mood and attitudes to say the least! Overall enjoyable tour but again we like scary

I found this tour to be interesting and informative. It kept my attention the entire time (which is very hard to do)!! It was perfect for a date and to get to know a city I was visiting without all of the bar hopping. The tour guide (Braxton) was very well spoken and informed, but kept it fresh and entertaining. I would highly recommend this tour and would even do it again myself!! :-)

A great way to get some local history and fun!

Your experience will probably depend almost entirely on your specific guide - we were lucky to have a great one. Cool stories, humor, set a nice pace to the cemetary and Dueling Alley and then the Dungeon. Highly enjoyable and I would recommend for sure!

Enjoyed ourselves but expected a little bit more

The tour was definitely fun and we all LOVED going to the Dixie Bake Shop and Nick's BBQ was fantastic as well. The tasting at the cookbook shop was okay and I was very happy to be shown the spice shop as many of us returned the next day to buy things that we HAD to have but didn't really fall in with a "tasting" tour, in my opinion. The tour guide, while quite knowledgeable about both Charleston and the food industry/cooking, was a bit stiff and didn't really ooze the southern charm and vivacity that was needed to keep this tour exciting.
