| While this wasn't a complete trainwreck, I just can't recommend it to someone else. Having to hike to the location of the jail after paying $36 seems like they are asking a lot. The tour only takes you to a couple different rooms within the jail and it's mostly dark, I think because they are hiding all of the projects the school is working on. This place can't be too spooky if they have students working in it all day. The tour guide (Karen?) was pretty entertaining but it definitely felt like she was repeating her lines for the 100th time that day. There was really nothing even spooky about the entire tour. | ||||||

| The tour had a lot of potential but our tour guide Lane was really weird and gave us the creeps. He only told us about the the prostitution and seemed to take it all very personally. He completely left out the crime, corruption and murder except where it pertained to the one supposed brothel he brought us to. Also, at the end of the 90 minutes he told us the tour was over and left us. He didn't even bring us back to our starting point. We were left to fend for ourselves. I might recommend the tour with another guide but if you get Lane get your money back! | ||||||

Decent tour but a little over the top, longwinded

| The historical information and stories provided in the tour were great. But our guide took such a long time telling each one that I got bored. One example was about 10 minutes spent on a story about Annabelle Lee (and Edgar Allen Poe). That story could have been told in under a minute to the same effect. Our tour guide was very nice, but his presentation was a little too over the top for me in terms of the "hushed, I'mma gonna whisper this and ooo, do you hear something? there are spirits all around us now and you know they're watchin' and listenin'" vibe. There may be people that like that. Some people on our tour in fact did seem to be eating it up, so maybe I'm more a skeptical, "tell me the facts/trivia and let's keep moving" type of person. My overall recommendation would be to include more content and less hullaballoo. | ||||||

| We had a very relazed quide, who stressed both the history and the importance of preservation. Also great stories to share and our party loved the tshirt with the saying on the back. They took a photo of it. | ||||||

| I have been to Charleston many times and love the city; however, if this were my first v isit, I would probably not return. We had a weekend for golf, the jail tour, and some dining. Two out of three were good, but the jail t our was a pathetic excuse for a haunted house. The historical information was minimal and the aparatus that supposedly held prisoners was clearly purchased recently from Home Depot. I wasted $90 that I could have used for another carriage tour (that was informative and relevent to the city's past). I travel often to a variety of places, but this tour was the first truly ridiculous encounter I've experienced. Other tourists in my hotel were turned off by the city b/c of this tour. I hope no one only experiences the jail tour - it is not representative of a wonderful city with other worthwhile things to do and see. | ||||||

| This was the first time that I have been on a tour so I really did not know what to expect. That being said ... the experience was alittle boring. It was interesting visiting the Dungeon but didn't think the rest of the tour was. | ||||||

| I have lived in Charleston all of my life, and this is the first time I have taken one of the haunted tours. I really thought that it would be an interesting, fun, and existing time for my fiance, my mother, and my 11 year old son. I was extremely disappointed. I can think of a lot better was to spent $64 in forty five minutes. | ||||||

| Neil was our guide and he was great. He knew lots of ghost stories and made it very interesting. The only problem is that now I want to do more research on Charleston historym. I would highly recommend it. | ||||||

| Our tour guide did a great job of taking us back in time, showing us where the town brothel was, where they hung and burned people, you can stand on the very spot that slaves were traded. He was from Charleston, his family was from there and he was full of knowledge. Great Tour, I'd recommend this to anyone. My husband was a bit skeptical at first and was questioning whether our guide was making stuff up as he went, but by the end of it, he was convinced there was no way he could make up that much. It's not something you get to do everyday, so if you have the time deffinately take the tour. | ||||||

| Really looking forward to this tour, what a let down, We felt it was rushed and the tour guide must have had other plans for the evening. We were told this was the scariest tour, there was nothing scarey about it. We did a ghost tour in Key West that really puts the jail tour to shame. Charleston is a great historical town don' t waste your time on this tour. | ||||||
