Our tour guide was an excellent storyteller and seemed well-versed in the history of the jail. |

The history was quite interesting, I think a little more could be added to it maybe. Maybe some more props and/or some pictures of folks that were affliated with the jail or the history of it. |

The meeting place was a bit crowded as there were about 7 different groups that were going out. They did assign guides to groups very quickly. I liked our guide although she did talk at length at a couple of places and I thought it could have been a bit more concise. I did like that she had a picture of a ghost taken at one of the graveyards. I did enjoy going into Circular Church's graveyard, although I used the flash light on my cell phone so we wouldn't trip over stones or uneven ground. Perhaps they should suggest bringing small flashlights for just that reason. As we were leaving another tour guide from the same place was telling a story about the church that wasn't told to us. Made me wonder if each guide has a "different" set of stories to tell. After 90 minutes, we left the group on Meeting street because of the heat and standing that long just made us want to go inside. I give this tour a rating of 3 out orf 5. |

I'd recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about the jail, however if you're looking to get spooked- you won't. There is a lot of information covered on the tour about the building and the people it housed- it's all very interesting, and the architecture of the building itself is beautiful, but I don't recommend this tour if you are solely wanting a good scare. The tour also goes by very quickly, only 45 minutes long, so take it in! Basically I'm saying I enjoyed this tour, it was great and interesting- it just wasn't scary! |

I think the guide could have done a better job telling the "ghost" stories. We wanted to get "scared", and this just didn't do it. I think if you could take a little more time in the graveyard, and make sure that your guide can really tell a story, ti would be a little better. Make sure your guides know that it's all in the delivery, because you should really be able to make these stories fairly scary! Other than that, the stories were very interesting, especially the one about the "Black Constable" and the voodoo aspect. Sorta spooky! |

Braxton was our tour guide and he seemed to know the history of Charleston and the area. We were expecting a tour that was going to be more scary, but was not. Some of his stories he told were generic and seemed made up. We did have an incident with a local who wanted to tag along, but he cited local laws and dealt with the unruly local accordingly with his companies policy. I would recommend saving your money and not taking this tour. |

I am a graduate student in Forensic Psychology so jails and criminals are of huge interest to me, therefore, my boyfriend and decided to try out this tour while we were visiting Charleston. It had some great history and stories but I think the tour really depends on your guide and your group. I was a tad disappointed that the tour did not include more. If you do choose this tour, make sure to go when it is dark! |

A nice tour for a 2 hour walk through the town. We had some fun and got some good interesting information throughout the tour. We later took a horse drawn carriage tour that covered a lot of the same information that we enjoyed a bit more. Overall I'd recommend this tour to anyone who doesn't mind the walking/stopping. |
