We were highly pleased with the tour. The knowledge of the history of the city in addition to the ghost stories were a real plus. We would reccomend the tour to anyone!

wasnt as scary as we wanted and the tour guide would have been better off on the horse and buggy tour, she was too chipper and happy for a ghost tour. it was a little boring. we didnt hear stories that really "WOW'D" us

One member of our group found the tour informative. The other 2 thought it didn't meet their expectations. Describing a crypt occurrence in another graveyard doesn't seem to qualify for an event on that particular tour. Ending the tour in a parking lot doesn't seem all that professional. A visit to a single graveyard seemed meagre. It would be helpful if there were bathroom facilities somewhere along the way. Having the tour leader adopt a persona might have been fun.

Tour not offered on day we purchased on-line

The Dungeon tour is not offered by Bulldog Tours on Sunday or Monday yet I was able to sign up for a Monday on-line. Bulldog called switched us to the Jail Tour for Monday. After we arrived in Charleston we stopped by Bulldog Tours and we were able to take the Dungeon Tour Saturday evening. Would have much preferred to know up front that the tour was not offered on the day we selected on-line. The tour was interesting. The tour guide was informative and told some good ghost stories. It was a fun and informative toour. Jack Fink

not scary at all

Our leader was great, she did a great job telling historical stories and had a great sense of humor. Our big disappointment was that it was not scary...at all. Since it was built up as such a scary adventure, we were expecting some sort of fright factor. None came. it should not be advertised as something it clearly is not. it is a historical tour, nothing more. Not worth nearly $20. It was interesting, and if it was advertised as a historical tour, we might not have been so disaappointed.

Very disappointed with the tour this time

We had been on the tour a couple of years ago and it was very thrilling. It was dark and mysterious so we wanted to do it again. This time however, it seemed to be a shorter tour and half the rooms had lights on. There were college students there working. I know Bull Dog Tours has no control over that, but it was a big disappointment for me this time. It took all the thrill out. I would not want to do this tour again until it gets back to the way it was before. All our other tours with Bull Dog Tours were great as usual. I love hearing the stories and learning the history. The more stories, the better!

Not impressed.

I was hoping for something that scared me and that did not happen. I was disappointed when we only went to 3 or 4 rooms in the jail and the rooms we went to were just walls and floors. It was supposed to be the scariest tour and there was nothing even remotely scary about it. There was also a 12 or 13 year old girl that totally ruined the experience before it ever started. I think that it could have been longer. I was also not happy with the price being the same as the other tours even though its 45 minutes sorter than all the others. I guess I will just have to try the other tours to see if they are any better.

The guides stories were very entertaining and interesting. If you like a good ghost story told in the dark in an exciting setting this is the tour to go on.

This building was CREEPY.

We did two tours and the haunted jail was our favorite. We were the only tour group in it at the time which made it more creepy, unlike the graveyard tour where there were multiple groups spread out in different locations. The building itself was almost creepy enough, but our tour guide was the icing on the cake. She told the stories with a low creepy tone and made us jump on several occasions. The dark and confined hallways and cells helped make this fit the style of tour we were looking for. The stories were more horror type as well. WE HAD A GREAT TIME!

Our family of four recently visited Charleston and went on the Ghost and Dungeon tour. Our tour guide was David, who grew up and Charleston and was very knowledgeable of Charleston history. He provided lots of facts related to Charleston and lead to many tales of the Ghosts of Charleston. The tour was just great. My husband and I, as well as our children, ages 8 and 14, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it. Many thanks to David, who managed to teach us a bit, while entertaining and showing us a great time! Elizabeth Hyde Knoxville, TN

Somewhat disappointed

Keep in mind that this was my first ghost tour in Charleston so I was a little lost in what to expect. From the advertisement I thought that we would be hearing about ghosts that inhabited graveyards that we would be going into. The ghost story that we heard about was at St. Phillips, but we weren't allowed to go in. The graveyard we actually entered and walked around in had no legendary ghost associated with it. The tour guide was pretty enthusiastic, but was having a hard time talking cause he was sick and that made it a little hard to hear. Also when he told the story of Lavinia Fisher, the female serial killer from Charleston, his version of her hanging was historically inaccurate. He stated that she made a comment to the crowd and then "jumped off" thereby hanging herself. However, based on information we heard earlier at a tour of the Old Charleston Jail, it's not possible that she could have done that. They used to hang people on a pulley and weight system so that the condemned was standing flat on the ground and was jerked up by the noose. There would have been nothing for Mrs. Fisher to jump off of. Having made such a mistake in that it made the rest of the stories he told lose credibility. The trip to Poogan's Porch was good though. All in all, I wouldn't say it was a bad tour. I would warn others not to expect to be scared out of your wits because that's NOT going to happen. There were some interesting stories though and colorful history that you don't hear about other places.
