| The history of the jail was fascinating, and the guide did an excellent job of painting a picture of what life was like for the inhabitants. However, if you're looking for a fright, this wasn't especially scary. The graveyard tour has better ghost stories. Also, this is not for anyone who can't do stairs. | ||||||

| My husband and I throughly enjoyed the tour. The knowledge of our tour guide was wonderful. She made me want to go back and study the Civil War once again because of the numerous references made throughout our walk. We had a sincere appreication of the city. Would recommend a tour like this the minute you arrive into town. Thank you. | ||||||

| Hello, my wife Lynda and I went to Charleston to celebrate my 55th birthday. we have visited Charleston before and always do something a little different. We both believe in the supernatural and since Charleston is rich in history of all kinds we decided to take in two different ghost tours. While both of them were exemplerary, the Haunted Jail Tour was the best, hands down! Our tour guide, Ginger, is one of only two people who conduct the tour at present, and she did an awesome job of bringing not only the dead to life, but also the history of the place. Any tour is only as good as the tour guide, and she knew the history of the old jail from top to bottom. She brought it to life in such a way as to make you feel that the events she described had just happened recently and almost as if she was there. Some of the frightening events that have happened during the long history of the old jail were told in such a way that, whether you believed in ghosts or not, would certainly send a chill down your spine! She also pointed out many details of the place, little things that, although seemingly insignificant, helped us visualize day-to-day life at the jail. How wretched for the prisoners, and even the guards! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the old jail, and we heartily recommend it to anyone who is fascinated with the supernatural. Even if you don't care much for ghosts, you would enjoy just hearing the history of the place. If you get Ginger as your tour guide, you won't be disappointed! Enjoy your own tour of The Old Jail! | This tour is great if you want to find out about Charleston history and scandals, and if you want to stay away from ghosts! The tour guide was very knowledgable and willing to adjust the tour to our interests. Fascinating stories that we still talked about on our way home and the next day. Highly recommended to both locals and tourists. | ||||||

| My friend and I went on this tour, and we do not scare easily but this experience really scared us. We got several pictures of strange glowing orbs, and other inexplicable things...overally, very fun and creepy! | ||||||

| Would do it again in a heartbeat, one of teh scariest places I've ever seen. The tour guide gave a great historical account (Suzanne) of the jail. We really enjoyed our stay in Charleston! | ||||||

| The tour guide we were placed with was wonderful! He said he had been doing tours for about 8 years, and it showed. We have been on a few walks before, but our guide made this one the best. He left no question unanswered and knew tons of little facts that made it that much better! Thanks | ||||||

| The tour guide was very knowledgable and interesting. He said he had researched the material for the tour himself. He kept the group engaged and was able to entertain questions on Charleston topics unrelated to the subject matter of the tour as well. | ||||||

| We've been to several ghost tours in Savannah and Charleston. This one actually made me uneasy! The guide was personable. At one point I wandered to another room from the tour and felt that, "I'd rather be back with the group", feeling. The guide mentioned paranormal investigators had their camera suddenly move and become disabled, in a particular corner of a room on the second floor, a few months ago. Well, I was taking lots of pictures with my new camera, with new batteries. My camera stopped/broke, lens permanently irretractible, trying to take a picture in that same corner of the room (very coincidental). Anyway, my teenagers and I enjoyed this tour. | ||||||

| This was an enjoyable tour. The jail was very spooky and the historical narration really added to the sense of horror. I don't think some aspects might be appropriate for children but it was a great date tour. Some parts drug out a bit and I sensed they were filling time to a certain extent (even though it's only a 45-50 min. tour) but the highlights definitely made up for those slower parts. You'll definitely want to bring a camera for a couple of parts and if it's winter dress warmly. I also recommend comfortable shoes. | ||||||

| The stories and locations were wonderful. I would recommend taking along a small flashlight to see the tomb stones better. It is a walking tour so I wouldn't recommend taking along anyone that needs considerable help walking. | ||||||
