It was pretty good!

I just wished it was a little longer and we got to see more of the jail. Maybe the downstairs part a little more.

Torture

The things to see on the tour are amazing and interesting, but the guide ruined the trip by droning on and on and on and on. After the first two stops, my wife and I could not stand another minute, so we dashed around a corner and ran away when the guide wasn't looking. The guide could have easily cut her talking time down to a tenth of what it was. Instead of being a fun and exciting trip to some spooky places, it was like a monotonous, endless lecture in an eighth grade history class.

3/4 History

Sorry, but this tour was a snooze-fest. Short walk to the first building and then a long history speech - no ghosts. I began to wonder if we would ever go into the building at all. When we did, there was only a couple of long historical stories told - still no ghosts and more of a basement than a dungeon. Very brief ghost story just outside the building and then a short walk to a graveyard. Still more history and a repeat ghost story from another Bulldog Tour. I was very disappointed in this tour and will search a different tour company the next time I visit Charleston. If you're a history buff, you may enjoy this tour. If you're looking for an entertaining ghost tour with bits of history... keep looking. If you ever go to New Orleans, take a ghost tour - they're all fabulous.

Not alot to see

We were very excited to take this excursion to the Old Jail but left feeling disappointed. The guide was very nice and great at story telling BUT due to the fact the Old Jail is now a school for design we were very limited on what we could see and where we could go.We only went into a few cells that had all the insides removed so each room was just a big empty space. It would be a fun place to go with a medium or paranormal expert but would suggest another tour tour if you are looking to be scared! Although I would not highly recommend this specific tour the BullDog Tour Company was very nice and I would recommend using them.

Living History

We took some business associates on the tour to show -off some of Charleston's history. Rebel's passion and enthusiasm were contagious. It was a great tour for all. The night was wet and foggy just adding to our adventure. We learned a lot of trival facts that even those who live here all their lives (over half a century) did not know. Definitely will do more tours in the future. Great Job! Rebel for making this tour memorable.

Our guide, Ruth, really knew her stuff and made our stroll through Charleston so interesting. I'd definately recommend her.

Good, but way too short

The dungeon part was great, but we wished the dungeon part of the tour had been MUCH longer. That was the main reason for taking the tour, but we spent very little time there (maybe 15 minutes). Would definitely take the tour again if we could spend all (or at least 75%) of the time in the dungeon.

Chains That Move Make for A Good Night

The tour guide was great but I think the whole tour lacked. Not enought stories and to much walking. The provost dungan was great, seeing chains move really was the high-lite. I caught several things on video that were neat, like a mist that moved past the chains before they started moving. Overall the tour was good, I can't wait to take the Jail tour. We heard there were lots of kool stuff happening there.

my husband and I recently relocated here from NY, so we consider ourselves tourists that live here. We had heard that Bulldog Tours was the best and it truly was. We look forward to taking advantage of the other tours from Bulldog in the future.

Not scary at all

Although I did enjoy the walk through Charleston and the tour of the dungeon the "Ghost" portion was lame at best. Our guide who claimed to have done this for a long time just couldn't tell a story. He would walk us to an alley and tell us stories about what happened here. They were not scary and not believable, and I believe in ghosts. I wish I had done the Graveyard tour, at least we could have read the headstones.

We enjoyed our trips with the Bulldog guides, they were enthusiastic and entertaining. I would have liked to have spent more time in the graveyard itself. Due to the distance walking to it, we were not there but for a brief period

Take the jail tour
Thu, Nov 2, 06   8:00 PM abrothers Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This tour (though we didn't really experience any 'spirit activity' while there) is by far the creepiest tour we've taken in Charleston. The history, the feeling inside there, the spooky factor--definitely worth it. Plus you get to spend a good amount of time in there. We plan to take this tour again next tmie we go to Charleston.

Not very scary, but lots of fun!
Thu, Nov 2, 06   8:00 PM carrieann34 Female 20-29 Local Group of Friends
The tour was quite fun, but was not as spooky as we had hoped. Because the jail is now home to an art school, we were not able to see every part of it, and it wasn't as creepy knowing that the place is actually inhabited by living people. The tour was quite enjoyable for its history, however. I was able to take some great pictures, and we had a great time feeling a little spooked out. A piece of advice: don't walk down to the jail as a small group, or a group of women. The jail is across the street from the projects, and my two female friends and I were a little frightened because we arrived early, and were outside standing alone. Don't expect to see any creepy jail remains, only the building is intact, but the tour is still highly recommended for its ambience and history.

This one is a must see!

We really enjoyed having access to this wonderful and very historic building. It's very, very creepy and you can "feel" the pain and suffering that went on there so long ago. It's a pretty long hike to the jail house from the downtown area, but it is well worth the blisters! We will definitely take on this attraction again!
