Overall the tour was an entertaining way to spend an evening. We heard some interesting stories and history of the town and some of it's characters.

The tour was a joke!! I thought you got to actually tour the jail. Big no!! You get to walk to about 3 rooms hear stupid stories, then leave.. The scariest part was the walk to the actual jail!

Worst tour ever

This was the biggest waste of money and I wish I had gotten a refund. The tour guide was literally insane... not a character or anything. He rambled and I couldn't understand him and I learned nothing. Our tour ended like 45 minutes early so he took us to a church grave yard and rambled some more.

TOO HOT FOR BORING STORIES
Thu, Aug 12, 10   9:30 PM fmummert Male 30-39 Combination Family Without Children
The stories are not good, not scary, and not enough to make up for it being SO HOT. At the point we were standing in the parking lot of a bank and the guide started telling a fabricated E. A. Poe story, we decided enough was enough and headed for a restaurant for a cool drink. Skip the tour, save $20, and walk by the graveyard on the way to a good restaurant in town.

This tour was a waste of time and money
Thu, Aug 12, 10   7:30 PM koxandale Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Our tour guide spoke so fast and would jump around from one subject to the next that she was very hard to follow. Paying 18.00 to stand outside of buildings and be told a couple of ghost stories is a rip off. The cemetary we were taken to is open to the public for free so we didn't need this tour to go in. I would save your money, buy a book on local history and walk yourself around. I normally tip tour guides at least 20% of the tour cost, not this time. Also a little personal pride in her attire might of helped, the tight black spandix also detracted from the tour.

disappointed in ghost tour
Thu, Aug 12, 10   7:30 PM chart7864 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
We have taken many ghost tours in Charleston and looked forward to this one, after not taking a tour for a few years. I think only going in one graveyard was my biggest disappointment. The tour description led us to believe that we would have access to different graveyards. The tour guide did a good job, but we were both disappointed and I heard others in our group say the same.

We enjoyed it but....

There needs to be more graveyard walking and less talking.

Fun and informative.

The tour wasn't too scary, but interesting in learning about the people buried in the cemeteries and their stories. It depends on your beliefs and imagination on how scary it is!

We had very high expectations when scheduling this tour. We had heard from someone that had taken it a year ago that it was very good. We were in a group of about 18 which was an acceptable number. There were only a few stops along the way (maybe four) where our tour guide gave some historical facts about events that had taken place there. Most of the stuff we had heard before. The entire ghost part was her showing us some photos of "supposed" ghosts from the spots on the tour. Although nice enough, I probably would not of hired her for I one my businesses. In all honesty, we departed the tour after the the third stop because it was so boring, even the 3 kids were bored. It definitely wasn't worth the $18 a person that we paid. Live and Learn...

Jail Tour Improvements
Mon, Aug 9, 10   10:00 PM salsd1 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
I'm affiliated with AAA and have been a travel writer for many years. I love these types of tours because they are fun for the teenagers and usually have historical interest too. I have been on several "ghost tours" in various cities so I think you could improve this particular tour by adding a little more than just telling the stories in an empty building. Our guide Glen was excellent in his delivery, told the story well, but usually the guide is dressed up and there are at least a few special effects...could he look a little creepier and carry a batterypowered lantern instead of the flashlight? Could you get a few local theater types to dress up and tell their portions of the story (a pretty young woman as Livinia, a creepy guy as Sedrick the jailer)? Could you get a recording of some chains rattling when you enter the building? It needs a little more drama, a little more suspense for the money, in my opinion. You rate it as scarier than it is. I enjoyed this historical information but my teenagers were a little bored...

Less than Pleased

It was an interesting tour. It involves more history than the haunted aspect of the ghost tours. The man that was our tour guide was difficult to understand, but if u asked him to repeat anything he would willingly.

Not worth it

Our tour guide had about as much enthusiasm as the ghosts we didn't see (not that we expected to, but seriously, humor me a little). The cemeteries were interesting, but you can go see them for free.
