Tourguide was the best ever!
Fri, Jun 11, 10   10:00 AM cissie Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We took the Charleston 2 hour walking tour and it was great. Our tour guide was Neil who was a 12th generation Charlestonian and had a degree in history from the College of Charleston. It doesn't get any better than this. Neil knew EVERYTHING about the city! We saw Rainbow Row, The Battery and the lovely homes along the battery, St. Michael's Church and much more. He knew every intimate detail of the city. I would highly recommend this tour. It's a great way to familiarize yourself with the city.

WE LOVED THIS TOUR!

I brought two 16 year olds and two 12 year olds ...all of us really really ENJOYED THIS TOUR! The 16 year old boys were COMPLETELY focused on the stories and history. The two 12 year olds asked question after question (as did I!) ... great detail in the story telling! And our guide (Susan the retired school teacher) was absolutely wonderful! Five Thumbs Up From all 5 of us!

Our guide was simply great! At one point, while telling a story, he actually shed tears! he is a master storyteller, and he kept us longer than he had to. I would highly recommend this tour!

We had "Hoon" as our tour guide, and he was very enthusiastic and a very entertaining storyteller. The Circular Church graveyard was absolutely beautiful, I would have liked to have been there in the daylight hours to take some pictures. My husband had something weird happen...when standing outside of St. Philips graveyard, his cell phone vibrated and it was a voicemail from a private caller, the only thing it said was "7 days"??? I don't know it was in a weird voice, we are assuming that it was my mother who knew we were on a ghost tour, but she won't admit to it. The only other explanation that I can come up with is that the tour company randomly calls people to scare them, but I didn't give them his phone number, only mine as a contact. The only significance that I can find with 7 days is that we were there on June 9th and the lady whose story he was telling when we got the message died on June 16 which would have been 7 days after we were there...I still think it was my mother though!! Overall, it was a great tour, and he gave us about an extra half hour of time which was nice.

We enjoyed our ghost tour of Charleston's graveyards and cemetaries..and yes, there is a difference! You will learn all about that and much more on this tour. The tour guides are very knowledgable and welcoming; you will enjoy every minute!

Have been to Charleston a few times. Tour was appropriate for people who have never been here before. Tour guide was very concerned with the heat. Everyone was dressed appropriately for weather, yet we only went where there was shade. Felt we spent way too much time in an air conditioned church. Felt a little weird to be in garden of historic home and told to peek inside for a glimpse of stair case. Thought we should have gone in home. Walked through a shaded park, yet we never talked about the park.

The walking tour was the first thing we did when we arrived in Charleston. It gave us a great overview of the city, and the guide was very knowledgeable of the local history. The group was small, so everyone was able to gather around to hear the guide as she talked. And, by walking, we were able to see many things that we would have missed had we been in a carriage or tour bus.

I had a wonderful time on my tour with Karen. The history of the jail is fascinating, and Karen made sure not to leave out any of the gory details. She told us the stories of the ghosts that haunt the jail, and I was able to get some great pictures, most of which included orbs (ghost manifestations) in them. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who's interested in ghosts and/or just getting the chills :)

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour - I believe our tour guide was David? He was a teacher - we had the 7 o'clock tour on friday june 4 - the tour that the baby was apart of :). I apologize, I'm horrible with names but we just wanted to say that we enjoyed the tour and the guide mentioned that he would send out photos of various shots that had been taken with orbs and things in them and we'd like to see. Thanks so much! Anna Zeigler

Not worth the money

We paid the most for this activity out of all the things we did in Charleston ($18 per adult). It definitely was not as good as the SC aquarium and the Fort Sumter tour, which both cost less.

I'm not much for scary movies and such, but my husband is and he convinced me to go on this tour. We had so much fun and the stories/history of the jail was so interesting!! I'll admit, there were times when i was a bit spooked.... but that was part of the fun. I would definitely recommend this tour!!

A bit gruesome for a ghost tour

I've done so many ghost tours and I was so excited to do one in Charleston. I just did not enjoy this tour. The tour guide focused so much on the deaths... the pirates being hanged, and what that was like.... on and on. I like the history aspect and the haunting aspect, and this was too much about gory details. Not my taste at all.
