ENJOYABLE BUT A LITTLE CONTRIVED
Fri, May 21, 10   9:00 PM mtelisak Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Interesting but only mildly entertaining. Some of the ghost stories seemed to be extensively elaborated upon. I am a generalized skeptic to most things supernatural, so that is my fault for not getting into the story more. Heck, we even saw some "orbs" in a picture we took but a basic review of heck, even Wikipedia reveals the cause of these. All and all our tour guide was fun, but seems a steep price for a very average tour.

The tour was very informative. I enjoyed the science teacher as a guide. We would definitely do another tour again.

Safety concerns, want more history, less ghostery

It is a really cool-looking building. We got some really nice outdoor pictures. The building had safety hazards, and since we were walking through the building in near darkness, there was real risk of injury. For example, the aisle out of the building had a drop-off on the left side, and someone with poor night vision could have fallen or turned an ankle. It was entertaining, but I would like to have heard more about the history of the building and less about the superstitious ghost stuff. (I think our tour guide really believed all that claptrap.) It was fun watching the reactions of the gullible members of our tour group. I suppose I should be glad we heard any history, since this was marketed as a "haunted" jail tour. Perhaps, Bulldog should have a Charleston Jail History Tour.

Perfect introduction to Charleston

My husband and I were visiting Charleston for the first time and thought that the walking tour would be a good place to start. We couldn't have been more correct! The group was small enough to be manageable, our guide was wonderful. In two hours we toured the "old town" section of Charleston, got a good taste of the history, and were able to make better decisions about what we wanted to see and do for the rest of our stay. Two hours is not too long, not too short. We had a lovely time.

A great way to start a trip to Charleston

This was a great way to start our long weekend in Charleston. Even for someone like me who had been to Charleston many times, I still learned a lot. And for my wife, who'd never visited, it was a great jumping off point for our visit. Very worthwhile and fun.

We enjoyed very much our tour on Friday with Faith. She was very enthusiastic about her adopted city and took us on a well thought out route through the historic district.

We enjoyed the walking tour very much. There was so much education about the history of Charleston incorporated into the presentation. Our Tour Guide was the best available. If you go on this tour, I hope your tour guide is Hoon Calhoun. Enjoy Charleston.

Our tour guide was very knowledgable about the city and the jail we toured. We got to look around and take pictures throughout the whole tour. She told us great stories and was super entertaining. We are excited to print our pictures because in the viewing screen there looks like a ghost or something is visible!!

Interesting trip through the graveyards.

Our tour guide was Grason (pronounced Grayson). He did a good job of telling the history and correlating stories with other ghost stories of the sorrounding regions. The tour was not scary eventhough we were in several graveyards, due to the fact that we weren't the only group on the graveyards. At any time we were one of 3-4 groups circulating and taking turns at different vantage points. If you have any form of ADD, then this tour is not for you. But if you have it under control - it was an interesting history lesson with some spooky sounding aspects. On a big plus, it was neat to see the two graveyards during the night.

Interesting, but not scary enough!

We all thought the tour was fun and interesting, but expected to hear more ghost stories. It was more like an interesting account of some criminal activity that might have led to ghosts - not quite scary enough for me! Even so, I'd recommend it to anyone, because our tour guide was a great storyteller and we all had a great experience. We had the science teacher for a tour guide and are hoping to get a copy of the picture of the ghost in the graveyard, as promised!

We had a blast tromping around Charleston at night... very festive city with lots of other tours going on. Made me want to go back the next day and do follow up in daylight. Several in our group are colonial history buffs and thrilled with all the great juicy details of the old days. Not too scary for kids. Our tour guide Franny really knows her stuff, and is afraid of ghosts, go figure. Big fun--- wear comfy shoes!!!!
