Fun way to see and taste the Strip District
Fri, Aug 17, 12   1:30 PM jcsowers Male 50-59 Local Family Without Children
We had a great time and enjoyed the tastes of food we had - felt like we had a meal that afternoon. Great way to spend a few hours if you're new to the area or haven't yet experienced the strip district.

Great experience in the Strip
Fri, Aug 17, 12   1:30 PM trishbl Female 40-49 Local Family Without Children
Even though it was a rainy day we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We'd taken out of town guests to the Strip before, being new to the area we could only share places we'd experienced. This was a great intro to the history, specialty shops and foods we'd never tried before. We were so glad we skipped lunch prior to the tour as we were beyond full after all the sampling. We returned to purchase several items after the tour and are still discussing our favorites several days later. I will highly recommend it to my friends whenever they are looking for a something fun to try in the 'burgh.

Will certainally go back, just to brouse the stores. The guide, Richard, was gracious, entertaining and passionate about Pittsburgh history. Highly recommend this tour!

This was my favorite thing I did in Pittsburgh! Our tour guide, Richard, gave us so much interesting history. The food vendors were also very informative, and of course, the food was outstanding!

Great History Lesson of the Strip

My husband and I took the Strip District Food Tour with our friends in August 2012. Richard, our tour guide, was great! He was a wealth of information and stories. He is a true lover of Pittsburgh and it's history. The consensus was that the beginning at St. Patrick's was our favorite part! The food was pretty good. I think this is a great way to explore a neighborhood in any city.

Much more than just a food tour!

My guide for this experience was Richard. I give the experience 5 starts. Our tour last just over 2 hours. During this time we did sample 6 different foods, but this was much more than just a food tour. Richard provided the small group with church history, architectural history, historical info on the settling and development of Pittsburgh's Strip District and much more. He was a wealth of information and you could tell he was personally invested in Pitt's history. The shops we stopped at for samples were great as well. Their owners of most of the stores were present to explain to us the background of the food we were sampling including but not limited to how it was made and a bit of history on their shop. I definitely recommend this experience to locals and tourists. It will not only be very informative for you but it will give you great ideas of places to shop at / eat at in the future.

This was a great way to see a part of Pittsburgh that might otherwise be overlooked. We especially liked that along with the sights and great food, our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Pittsburgh history and the current revitalization of the city.

Worthwhile tour even if you've 'been to the strip'
Fri, Jul 27, 12   1:30 PM cmgentile Female 40-49 Local Family With Children
This was my second strip district tour. I was so impressed the first time that I wanted my parents, born & raised in the 'burg, my sister (now living in NC) and my daughters 13 & 10 to discover all of the hidden fabulousness the strip has to offer! Our tour guide, Beth, provided the right mix of Pittsburgh history and folklore to keep the group interested and wanting more. Each store visit opened our eyes to the culture, family and hard work that generations have built their sucessful businesses on. I strongly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city for the first time; the ideal way to learn about our food, our history and our passion! As someone who has lived in Pittsburgh my whole life, I also recommend to Pittsburgher's who haven't walked the noisy, crowded, wonderfully fragrant sidewalks of the strip to take this tour and find out what you have been missing! My parents, sister and daughters enjoyed all of the touring and tasting...

The tour of the Strip District was wonderful, educational, very enjoyable. We learned things we never knew and tasted some delicious food. The ethnic things we learned were very educational and meaningful, especially after living in this area all of our lives. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone.

Despite the pouring rain, our tour guide, Richard, enthusiastically led us up and down and in and out of Penn Avenue. He was eager to share his knowledge of the local history. The shopkeepers welcomed us warmly everywhere we went and were proud to serve the food they'd prepared. As a native Pittsburgher who frequents the Strip District, I was surprised at how much I learned on the tour and delighted to add a few new stores to my shopping repertoire!
