A great way to spend 2 hours!

I've lived in Pittsburgh for over 20 years, and shop in "the strip" pretty regularly ... and yet, on this tour I learned so much about the area and visited several establishments I may not have gone into otherwise...I've gone back and shopped at many of the places we visited. There is a lot of 'history' on the tour and our leader was entertaining and informative. He seemed to have a good relationship with the shop owners which added to the experience. The one thing I wish I had known prior to the tour is that while they say "bring your appetites" - this is only a tasting tour, so while the food we sampled was varied, and very good.. it was not plentiful and we went out to lunch afterwards. Overall, I truly enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about this unique part of the "Burgh..

The Burgh food tour in the Strip District was outstanding. The guide was very informative and gave a lot of historical background about the area and the various ethnic establishments. This tour was an outstanding way to appreciate the Strip District and get a real "taste" of the variety of establishments.

Enjoyable day! You really shouldn't miss this one!

My husband and I had visited the Strip twice before we took this tour. Our tour guide was Sylvia and she was a joy! She was enthusiastic, and passionate about sharing the history, revitalization, and great food of the strip district. We learned so much and sampled varieties of food that we may have missed without her knowledge. We enjoyed learning about the mural on the building and who the people were in it! I love the story Sylivia told about the kindness of people during the depression and about the bath house, back in that day. Now, back to the food....we enjoyed the samples we had very much! The business people were awesome telling us about their stores and generously giving us plenty of samples to try! After the tour, we returned to shops we had visited where we remembered and treated like friends returning. Honestly, we are very interested in going on other tours now.

The Bloomfield Tour was awesome. It was the second time I took the Tour. The first tour was with my husband, this tour was with my girlfriends. Merante gifts is a special surprise "secret" part of the tour that should be experienced by all. My friends were truly amazed by the history Gabe gave us of the area, the delicious food and shopping experience. We loved being able to attend the Catholic Churches both for visits and mass.

Very good tour guides and nice way to see a neighborhood that we otherwise did not know much about.

Recommended!! (only 1 minor complaint)

We are from the Pittsburgh area and have never been to Bloomfield besides just passing through while driving so I thought this would be a neat date idea. Before attending the tour, I was worried that there would not be enough food for my significant other and we would have to stop somewhere after. This was not the case at all! We were provided with plenty of food samplings (all super delicious)! In addition, the tour guides were very helpful and had plenty of information on the area. The only complaint I have is that one of the food stops along the way was a make-your-own frozen yogurt establishment. These are all over the Pittsburgh area. I would have preferred if this was a bit more "authentic" food stop that was unique to the area. Perhaps a wine tasting? Anything else uniqie to the area would have been better! Overall though I was very satisfied with the tour and look forward to attending more!

Perfect Valentine's Date

We usually do not go out for dinner for Valentine's Day as most restaurants are much too busy. However, when I received notice of this tour from LivingPittsburgh, we decided it sounded interesting. We love to play the tourist as we learn so much about our hometown. We were not disappointed!! The information about the Strip and the food tastings were delightful and fun. I shop in the Strip frequently but this gave us an opportunity to interact a bit more than usual with the shop owners as well as visit a couple venues I've never been prior to the tour. I didn't even know the last stop on our tour existed. What we've been missing! Everything was delicious! Our guide was engaging and informative and added to our tour greatly. The bogo deal was a wonderful bonus and probably convinced us to give the tour a try. But now that we've participated, I have and will be recommending this activity with or without any special deals. I can't wait to try another tour, perhaps Bloomfield will be our next stop! I would recommend that you go on the morning tour. This allows time to shop afterwards. If you choose to do this, you will want to park in the lot on Smallman St. near the 16th St. bridge. It's about the most reasonable for all-day parking. Also, I did not feel I could eat a meal afterward, but my husband said he could've eaten a light meal. So, I would say your appetite will determine your level of satisaction with the amount of food you receive. Thank you so much for a wonderful morning!

An enjoyable afternoon

The tour guides were friendly! The content of the neighborhood/food info given by them was ok (a few rather interesting facts, a few seemingly exaggerated). As for the food, I live locally so none of it was new to me but it was pretty good. Nothing spectacular. I am a vegetarian and the substitution they gave me was good one time but made me feel I wasn't getting my money's worth the other (coleslaw). I am glad I did it though: a pleasant way to spend a sunny winter afternoon.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Little Italy. The history shared was very interesting and the stops were perfect. Everyone that we met was very warm and friendly. And the food sample portions were very generous - certainly enough for a meal! The two hour time frame was very good. And our tour guide, Gabe, was great - knowledgeable and personable. We have already recommended the tour to friends.

Enjoyable afternoon

We had a delightful afternoon on the food tour of Little Italy (Bloomfield) tasting the delicious samples from the shops and restaurants which was more than enough to be a late lunch. The history of the neighborhood was educational to hear along with the store owners' descriptions of their goods and Italian food making processes. We would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a an enjoyable way to spend a couple hours experiencing one of Pittsburgh's historic neighborhoods and come hungry.

Wonderful trip through Bloomfield.

I am local, and I am an Italian, so I wanted to try this tour. The host, Gabe, is a warm, friendly, and knowledgeable guide. I took a Strip District Tour with him recently, and I learned so much more about this area. I liked the Bloomfield tour tremendously because we met and talked with many of the owners. They are very proud of their businesses, and it shows. The food was delicious and abundant! My husband and I finished the tour at 3:30 p.m., and we did not eat another bite the rest of the evening. I intend to try each of the Burgh Bits and Bites tours.
