My wife and I decided on this tour because of its reputation as the best in Charleston. We really enjoyed the tour and thought our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. He was very animated which added to the experience. Not really that scary with the exception of the graveyard that this company has exclusive rights to go into.

We enjoyed the history told around the ghost stories. Our tour guide, Ian, was VERY knowledgable and even interjected his own personal experience with the supernatural. He knew just where to take us around the city, and didn't waste time. The 80 minutes went by very quickly. It was well worth the money spent. A good time was had by all.

I have been to the downtown Wilmington area so many times, and its so neat how much interesting history is hiding behind a simple window, cemetary gate, an empty parking lot or even a bush. We had loads of fun and would do again!

We were really looking forward to this ghost tour, but it failed our expectations. We spent a great deal of time seated, listening to lots of history and hearing a few tales about ghosts elsewhere--in buildings we weren't even near. The guide seemed more interested in telling really bad jokes than entertaining us with tales of the supernatural. And his jokes were so bad that it was embarrassing. No one laughed, even though he clearly waited for a response. He also rambled, and sometimes I found it difficult to figure out what he was talking about. He spent way too much time discussing the "symbols" of death and too little time talking about spirits. And while he talked about ghosts in various buildings around the city, he sometimes ignored stories of places right there in front of us. For example, we passed Poogan's Porch twice, and he never even mentioned the ghost there. The highlight of the tour--if there was a highlight--was the very short time we spent inside the Unitarian Cemetery. But even then, the guide rambled a little too dramatically about his personal encounter with the Lady in White. I would have preferred 10 minutes to ramble through the cemetery rather than 10 minutes of his rambling tale. It was a nice night to be out in the streets of Charleston, and that alone was a good experience, But the ghost tour itself was truly disappointing. We plan to try another company's tour as a comparison. Hopefully, there is a good, scary tour out there.

| I'm sorry to report that this tour was such a disappointment.
Since it is rare (I assume) that a ghost actually graces these tours with its presence, the tour depends on (1) interesting history and (2) a good storyteller tour guide. The history is there, but our poor guide turned the time into an ordeal.
Rather than being weird in a good way, he was just weird. It seemed obvious that he knew his history. But it seemed equally obvious that he'd told the stories so many times that he'd lost whatever connection he might have once had with his audience.
Jerky, disjointed narrative that was so hard to follow...and I really tried.
By the time we reached the last 15 minutes it was torture just to keep listening.
On a carriage tour the day before, the guide mentioned that after so many tours the horses get two weeks in the pasture. You might want to consider that for your humans.
Like I said, sorry to bear a bad report, but this tour was terrible |

The tour was both entertaining and informative. Our guide, Ian, was extremely knowledgeable and provided a humorous, and at times spooky commentary that kept his audience interested the entire time. Historic downtown Charleston architecture and landscapes are an excellent backdrop for the ghostly stories recounted by the tour guide.

Of all the things we did in Charleston, this was the least favorite. The guide was so-so at the best. Told a few jokes that we could do without. Only told a couple of ghost stories and they were so-so. the only one we likes was when we were in the graveyard. save your money on this tour and pick another one.

The quality of each tour is very dependent on the particular tour guide and this tour was a little disappointing. Too much hype. Too much history of Charleston (which is interesting but some of it seemed irrelevant to the theme of the tour) and simply not enough scary ghost stories. Buxton's book has so many more stories and our guide told just a fraction. I paid for the tour for all eight in our group and feel that I wasted my money.

My husband and I found this tour disappointing and boring. The guide was nice enough, but the tour lacked GHOST or the history of ghost in Charleston. For an old city that has survived pirates, hurricanes, wars and earthquakes this should have been an extremely interesting tour. I would not recommed this particular tour but would suggest to anyone that is interested that they try another tour.
