Horrible Experience (not in a good Ghost way!)

The tour was absolutely excruciating. While the guide had obvious enthusiasm about the subject, he was unable to clearly communicate with the group. The parts that were understandable were just plain boring. By the time he covered anything interesting, he had already lost the interest of the group. The tour was a complete waste of money and more importantly time.

I have been on another ghost tour with a different company on Market Street (which was boring and disappointing). This was my 3rd ghost tour with The Ghosts of Charleston, and I have never been disappointed either time. Every guide that I have had was very animated, enthusiastic, and interesting. I HIGHLY recommend this tour. I plan on doing another one next month with the same company, just a different tour. My fiance is not from Charleston, so she got to hear some of the history as well as stories of ghostly sightings.

We were expecting a bit more out of the Ghost Walk. I suppose some of it is the fact that we are locals and had heard about many of the stories but we never really got that creepy feeling about any of the stories except for the "Headless Torso". Neither my wife nor me had heard that one. It would have made more of an impact had we actually been at the Carrigae House when the story was told instead of in front of City Hall. i think our guides delievery was a bit off on most of the tales too. She came across as almost jokey. I am not sure if she was nervous or what.

We went on the tour last Wednesday night July 30th, at 9pm. I am not sure of the gentleman's name however, he was very informative and told incredible stories!!! Only complaint I have and I am sure if you ask him, he may remember me, we went to the George Washington Memorial Park and because it was so dark and ample lighting was NOT provided, I fell off some steps and actually broke my ankle!!!! I think that when you do these tours you either suggest to the participants to bring their own flashlight or provide more lighting. Other than breaking my ankle, I had a wonderful time, unfortunately though I was not able to finish the tour and feel a little short changed. Thank you, Diana

The tour was interesting. The guide was very literary and full of interesting trivia and puns. However, it was sometimes hard to follow his jokes. I would have been really happy to read a transcript of the talk (rather than hearing it orally). Still, it was fun. I also would have liked to enter a graveyard, but we didn't.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour with our guide. She was well spoken, easy to follow and a great story teller. I am not sure what the max number of guests would be included in a group, but our size which was 7 was plenty as more would have made it difficult to hear.

I really wanted to go on a Ghost Tour while on vacation in Charleston - but there are at least fifty different ones to choose from. I decided to take the "Ghosts of Charleston" Tour because I was familiar with the book, and thought that would make it a little more legit. Our guide for the night was Ian, and he did an AWESOME job of presenting the stories as well as being able to work in the history of the city and a few other interesting tidbits. He also had an unlimited supply of cheesy jokes and puns that added levity at appropriate times. I knew a lot of the stories already since I had lived in Charleston previously, but he did such a good job of engaging the group that it was as if I were hearing them again for the first time. We went to about five or six locations, which felt about right, and the tour lasted about two hours. I have been on numerous ghost tours before in various cities (Chicago, Edinburgh, etc.), but this was one of the most enjoyable tours I have been on. There were no gadgets or lanterns or costumes, just a guide telling very eerie and exciting stories of Charleston's past. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting a spooky evening. It just goes to show that as long as you have a guide who is engaging and can spin a good tale, that you don't need any of the bells and whistles.

I have been on several ghost tours in different cities. I learned a lot about the history of Charelston, but I feel like we didn't get to see many places. The guide was very knowledgable, however, he kept showing us pictures in a book instead of showing the actual site. Also, we were heckled by several locals, it was quite funny, but be aware it will happen.
