We spent two hours on the tour and the guide spoke almost continuously. I enjoy ghost tours because they are available at night and few other attractions are open after a day of business travel. The guide related his personal ghost encounter at the cemetary which was amazing to hear. Despite a light drizzle that night, I enjoyed the tour. |

The tour provided a good opportunity to see many old places in Charleston that were very interesting. Unfortunately, the tour guide (who was very nice), was not very vocal and did not seem to be a good story teller, which on this type of tour is essential to having fun. Glad we went, but felt the tour underachieved its potential for entertainment. |

Our guide Ian was personable and very enthusiastic about the subject. Although it was late at night and he'd just finished an earlier tour, he showed a lot of energy in his presentation. We walked through the darkened streets and stopped at various points listening to each tale which included historical figures: pirates, statesmen, even ordinary people... the highlight was the Unitarian cemetary, standing among the graves under the moonlight - it was really neat listening to the story of the ghost sighting that took place at the very spot we were standing.
Whether you believe in ghosts or not I think you'd find this entertaining and worth the price. This tour didn't seem to be as heavily publicized as some of the others so the group we were in was smaller, which I appreciated.
The tour was based on a book which is currently (August 09) out of print, and I had to go to the internet later to get a used copy. While it's nice that they didn't try to hawk the book after the tour, it would be better if they had some copies available or a "guide to further reading" for those interested.
Overall, I'd recommend this tour. |

Probably better if you've read the book

While I'm more interested in the history and architecture of this beautiful city, we decided to try the ghost tour because a friend thought it looked cool. The tour guide was friendly and really knew the city and its history well. She was able to answer lots of questions by putting them into historical perspective. I'm not really interested in ghost stories so I'm not the best person to ask.
If this is your first trip to Charleston, I'd recommend one of the history tours first. But if you've read The Ghosts of Charleston, you'll enjoy this tour. |

Several good stories with facts about Charleston but the ghost stories were mediocre. Best part was the trip to the cemetary. |

This tour was not interesting at all. With all the history in Charleston, surely more interesting stories can be found. We actually stopped by a house and the guide stated "This house is not haunted, but what if it was..." |

Our tour guide, Ian, was fantastic. He was personable, energetic and very knowledgeable. The tour was both entertaining and informative. I grew up in Charleston and didn't know half of what he presented to us. He has the ability to take places that I just took for granted and present them in a new and interesting light. If you take this tour I hope you get this guide. Definitely worth the price. |

It was interesting, but the guide was cheesy. We mostly stood in parking lots and talked about different stuff. When first meeting up with the group not really sure what was going on, seemed a bit shady. Didn't have to confirm anything with the guide, only the name. Even though they were sold out a few people hoped on at the last minute, which I think is why our guide was cheesy...for all I know the guide pocketed the new peoples cash and his buddy took over for the other half of the people that got bumped due to the new people coming on. I won't do another one of these tours again with this company, it was way too expensive for what I experienced. Having talked with other people that have done other tours, we drew the short end of the stick. The stories others told were far more entertaining than the ones we heard. In all honesty, if I was 9 it would have been great, but I'm not 9 and it wasn't all that good. |

I am not one who believes in ghost. I took this tour in hopes of a little fun and to learn more about Charleston's past. Both happened. The tour guide conducted the tour in a way that was fun, informative and respectful of those who believe and those who don't. |

The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and his stories were interesting! We have been on other Charleston ghost tours, but this one was our favorite! We were able to enter locations that are usually inaccessible to the public. Good time! |

Our tour was great. We were late and our guide waited for us to arrive and personally called me to ask our location. He then took us on the tour making the effort to be personal with almost everyone in attendance. He was extremely knowledgeable about the locations visited and was able to quote the book, which we purchased and read prior to the tour. We highly recommend this tour to anybody looking for a thrilling, educational evening. The night tour is a must! |

My wife and I decided on this tour because of its reputation as the best in Charleston. We really enjoyed the tour and thought our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. He was very animated which added to the experience. Not really that scary with the exception of the graveyard that this company has exclusive rights to go into. |
