Very entertaining

Tour was very entertaining and the guide was very fun to listen to as he told the stories of the ghosts that inhabited the places we stopped. The Unitarian Cemetary was very eerie at night and all the old tombstones and spanish moss just made it that more eerie. Would not want to be locked in by myself in the very wee hours of the morning!

WANABE PROFESSOR IAN GIVING DISSERTATIONS ON HISTORY - MORE THAN GHOST STORIES WHICH SHOULD BE ENTERTAINING - THE FIRST OF WHICH LASTED AN HOUR AND INCLUDED 3 HUNDRED YEARS OF HISTORY - SEEMED MORE LIKE LECTURES THAN ENTERTAINMENT. HE THEN STARTED IN ON RELIGION AND THE HIDDEN MEANINGS TO SYMBOLS IN SIMPLE THINGS LIKE DOORS, TRAVERSE LITES , AS REGARDS CROSSES IN DOOR CONSTRUCTION AS THOUGH THE ROMANS HADN'T USED IT AS PENAL IMPLEMENT,THEN IT WAS VOODOO - ALL THIS TO A BUNCH OF CATHOLICS - 7 OF US! HE WAS CONDESCENDING IN HIS TREATMENT OF OLDER FOLKS IN ORDERING THEM AROUND AND FORCING EACH OF US TO TAKE HIS FLASHLIGHT AND REVIEW HIS CREDENTIALS POINTING OUT THAT HE'S PASSED THE TEST 17 TIMES NOT ANY HUMOR IN HIS 38 YEAR OLD BONES HE WAS LEFT IN CHARLESTON BY HIS PARENTS - HIS FATHER A PROFESSOR - DUHH! NOW WE KNOW WHERE HE GETS IT! HE'D BE AN EXCELLENT GUIDE ON HISTORY TOUR OR CARRIAGE RIDE WHERE YOU EXPECT THAT STUFF. WE'VE BEEN COMING TO CHARLESTON FOR 20 YRS OR MORE AND HAVE TAKEN NUMEROUS GHOST WALKING TOURS - LOVE THE CEMETERIES AND THE STORIES , THE ORBS THE WHOLE DEAL WAS TERRIBLY DISSAPPOINTING AND WE WALKED AWAY LESS THAN HALF WAY THRU (MY HUSBAND WANTED TO LEAVE EARLIER) WAISTING THE MONEY $40+ . TOOK A GHOST CRUISE THE NEXT NIGHT AND HAD A BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lacking Information

Guide was extremely energetic, to the point of distraction. He seemed very knowledgebale about the stories that he shared, however, we felt that he gave too many details. In other words-he knew a lot about a few stories and we would have enjoyed the tour more if he had told us a "little about a lot of stories". He told us that the book he referenced was out of print and was selling on Ebay for $200.00. I found it on Amazon.com for face value and my copy is signed! He took us into a cemetery (which was really cool) but only talked about one grave. Surely there were others that could have been included. All in all we did enjoy the tour, but I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone visiting Charleston.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE !!!!!

Ian was the most knowledeable and talented guide I have ever seen. He made the history come to life with a dramatic flare that has to be seen. It was historically correct and presented as well as any broadway show I have seen. I have been on other tours in charleston and they don't compare. Our 9 yr old was fine with the experience as well.

Bizarre yet Boring
Thu, Aug 26, 10   9:30 PM heatherevans Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
The tour guide was difficult to understand, jumping from subject to subject and suggesting humorous or eerie connections between random events. He took us only to a few nearby sites and told long, boring, unbelievable stories at each. It was unclear what was fact and what was fiction, even with regard to commonplace information about Charleston's history. We also saw very little of the city. All in all, a waste of time and money.

Too much character!

The ghost tour guy should have been more interactive instead of "speech-like."

Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He was a great storyteller and I enjoyed the experience overall. I won't say I was convinced of ghosts or had nightmares, but a quaint experience in Charleston overall. I only wish there had been more stories.

Factual Ghost Stories
Fri, Aug 20, 10   7:30 PM glockg17 Unspecified 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Our tour was on a very hot and humid August evening; but, the stories were interesting and based on historical facts and reports which distracted us a little from the heat. The length of the walking tour was on the mark lasting approximately 1 1/2 hours and for a party of (3) with ages 55, 56, and 8, it left us with plenty of energy to walk back to our hotel and visit a few shops on the way. If you are looking for a good evening of Ghost Stories without any tricks or gimmicks, this is the tour.

Learned a lot about our city!

My boyfriend, who has grown up in downtown Charleston, was surprised to hear all of the different stories about where he grew up. He had heard remnants of stories, but there was nothing like listening to our guide, Ian, who knew the depths of Charleston and had experienced the underworld personally. It was a great tour for him and our visiting family that knew nothing about Charleston. We went through the gammet of emotions from scared to intrigued to heartfelt and sympathetic.

I grew up in Charleston and had never done one of the ghost tours. My 11 year old daughter wanted to go and so we did and everyone enjoyed it. Out tour guide was excellent--knowledgable, personable and very effective.

Our guide was very well informed and a good storyteller but the tour was really not scary and my 15 yo was bored. As an adult, I appreciated the history and I especially enjoyed the tour of the graveyard in the dark.

Our guide was very pleasant and knowledgable, but I thought he tried a little too hard to be funny. We enjoyed the stories, and he certainly knew all the details. We had college/high school age kids, and they enjoyed it.

Highlight? Spooky cemetery
Wed, Jul 28, 10   9:30 PM jonandmaura Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Ian, the tour guide, did a great job explaining some of the history of Charleston, and we were lucky enough to see a "blood-red moon," as he called it, prior to starting the walking tour. The cemetery was SPOOKY. Walking in, the trees blocking the moonlight and grave markers right next to the narrow walking path, one could imagine THIS is the place a ghost might appear. My husband and I went in with the right attitude, that the ghost tour would be entertaining and fun and we weren't disappointed.
