great family fun

The tour was both entertaining and informative. Our guide, Ian, was extremely knowledgeable and provided a humorous, and at times spooky commentary that kept his audience interested the entire time. Historic downtown Charleston architecture and landscapes are an excellent backdrop for the ghostly stories recounted by the tour guide.

Our guide, Ian, was a very good story teller, very into the whole experience. He kept a sense of humor which lightened it up for the kids in the group and shared lots of information which converted the others! I totally recommend this group tour, apparantly the original ghost touring company in town.

It was fun and interesting.

I liked the tour. However, I wished we could have spent more time exploring the haunted cemeteries and less time walking around side streets and parks.

Great tour

Very informative. Lots of interesting history. Guide was very knowledgeable and a good story teller. The tour took us through the Unitarian Church graveyard at night. There were a few children on the tour, and they seemed pretty scared. Wouldn't recommend it for anyone under 12 or 13. Not much walking, so it's not physically demanding at all. Some of the streets are cobblestone and could be a problem for an elderly person or someone with poor night vision.

Very Disappointed

I am in a family of 4, with 2 kids ages 12 and 9. We went on the 7:30 tour last Saturday, April 4th. No one in my family enjoyed the tour. It was probably the biggest waste of money that we spent in Charleston. It wasn't scary and really not even very entertaining. The tour guide was annoying. Not nearly enough stories were told. After standing outside the Smokehouse brewery for what seemed like a 30-minute boring narrative, I was ready to leave the tour; unfortunately, it had just begun. It didn't improve from there. Had hoped for an engaging, scary ghost tour of Charleston. What we got was a perfunctory, canned speech at several stops over a 90 minute period. Guide was just "going thru the motions." All in our tour group (10 folks) were clearly bored and guide did not make any effort to engage the group or tailor his stories to the group. He had a prepared speech and delivered it. He was friendly, but couldn't mesh with his audience. (He seemed like he might be better on an architectural tour.) Unitarian graveyard was neat...but we were only there about 7 minutes...then he moved us on to the next stop on the sidewalk. Nothing scary about this tour and certainly not worth $40.

Our family enjoyed this tour. It was recommened to me by a friend and I would definitely recommend it to others. I would like to go back and do additional tours (The Ghosts of Charleston 2, and the Pirates Tour) the next time we visit Charleston. My son (age 11) purchased the book "The Ghosts of Charleston" and read it on the way home. He loved the tour!

Dull and drawn out.

While the guide was enthusiastic and upbeat, the tour itself was very dry. There was a lot of history and we spent a great deal of time standing against a wall listening. The guide also ran late and left us three blocks from where we began. We were not taken to a "gift shop" as advertised. It seemed pointless, although the guide continually said this was the top rated tour in the area. I would recommend against taking this tour again.

My husband and I took the Ghost tour on Friday, December 5th and had a wonderful time. We both felt that the guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining as well. We learned things that we did not know about previously which always leaves us with great stories to tell our kids. We also had great weather considering we are from up North any weather is better than ours!! Zerve made it easy to book this tour as well. Thanks for a great adventure into the world of Ghosts!!!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the ghost tour! The guide was awesome. The history and commentary were both equally enjoyable! The Unitarian cemetery is "to die for!" (Ha! ) We'll highly recommend this to all our traveling buddies.

Not what I had expected.

Our guide, I believe his name was Ian, was very informative as he took us around. The only disappointing thing was that we could only stand outside of buildings, except the cemetary, and here the stories. We were hoping to be in the actual dwellings of the places where the ghosts were seen. Thank you, Shary and Michael McGloin

Interesting Concept; Weak Execution

I was very interested in learning more about Charleston ghost stories. The presenter was knowledgeable but didn't stay "in character" during the tour which diluted the effect of the stories. The walk through the historic areas of Charleston was interesting but you get much more detail taking one of several carriage tours.

We really enjoyed our tour and especially our guide Ian. He was very knowledgable about the places visited as well as history of Charleston. Only negative comment was wish that we visited more ghostly venues.
