Disappointed

The tour guide was enthusiastic but not kid friendly. As a parent with two children I felt he spoke above them and actually told my 6 year old not to ask any more questions! I love Charleston and it's history but was disappointed in the guide not being as friendly as he should have been to my children!

Hard to understand

We really were looking forward to this tour. I practically grew up in Charleston and wanted to share some chills with my teenage daughter and her friend on our visit. Ian, the tour guide, spoke so quickly and with so many asides and personal opinions, we barely understood anything he said. I played translator for the gilrs since I was familiar with many of the local legends. The best part of the tour was the cemetary at the end.....really creepy....too bad we couldn't understand the story being told about the ghost seen there. Very disappointed. We tried for another tour company ghost tour the next night but never found any openings.

Very much enjoyed the history and the enthusiasm of our tour guide. The tour went a little long and you should definitely be ready to walk.

My family has taken 2 ghost tours in the past. In general we have always found them to be an entertaining way to pick up some additional local history and interesting stories. This was my least favorite ghost tour. I found our tour guide to be difficult to understand, as did my teenage children. (We haven't decided if this was due to his insistence of speaking in a "spooky voice" or the usage of every 8 letter word in the dictionary). I felt more emphasis was placed on the book this particular tour has published than just being entertaining!

Very entertaining and informative

I have been on other tours where they were much more informal and interactive. But our guide Ian was terrific. His tour seemed more like an actor telling you a story than a tour guide relaying facts. Good tour!

Excellent presentation of local ghost stories and perfect ending...in a dark cemetary! Loved it!

historically interesting, no ghost wow factor

If you're interested in a little history, go...if you want a thrill, this is not it. Can't really reccomend it as a 'Ghost 'tour. I guess we were expecting a little more "spook" in the tour, and the other tours we kept meeting up with took away some of the 'ghost' ambiance. Our guide was intertaining and knowledgeable, but we walked by many interesting looking places that were not mentioned or referenced. The neatest place we went to was the Unitarian grave yard, but several in our party were attacked by fire ants - so, bug spray extra on the feet and legs!

good info, bad ending

tour was about what we expected. guide shared some stories of interest. guide not prepared for one traveler that had health emergency. guide ended tour over 5 blocks from starting point. 3 older ladies walking down dark streets after 11pm was not a pleasant experience. this was quite a negative surprise for us.

Best ghost tour ever!

This was by far the best ghost tour I have ever been on. The tour guide kept the attention of the audience and was far superior than any other tour guide I have had. I expected this to be a ghost tour with "orbs" and other phenomena but it was actually historical and told a great deal about Charleston many years ago. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone that wants to know some history about Charleston with a little "spooky" twist. Amazing tour, thank you!

my favorite tour

I have taken many tours including ghost tours, historical tours, ect.... but the ghosts of charleston was by far my favorite tour so far. This tour didnt remain on earth but took me far from the realms of an ''average' ghost tour. you live the terror, the romance, and the pain of the ghosts you will hear about. and this tour takes you inside one of he most mystical places on this planet, to the out of this world Unitarian church grave yard. my experiances here were some of the best in my life. many people think that a ghost tour means that there will be men dressed in costumes jumping at you with a hatchet, but these stories are as real as you and me. I highly recomend this tour.

Not very impressed

The guy that gave us the tour was certainly a great storyteller, although sometimes he spoke too fast. He's been doing it a long time and it shows - he really knew his stuff. However, I wasn't impressed when we only saw 3 places that are deemed to be haunted, when he said there are potentially thousands in Charleston. Then, one story he told was good, but I didn't see where he was talking about a particular place where we were standing. All in all for the price, I wouldn't recommend it. Too much for too little. The guy was really good, but not worth me paying $75.

Sight-seeing fun

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our Ghost Walk. We went before tourist season kicked up, so we had a small group and we were able to take our time and see everything. The tour provides a mix of historical information and a guide to the city's sites along the way, even if not related to a ghost story. Non-believers and those not necessarily interested in ghost stories can still gain a lot of enjoyment from the historical insight gained from the tour guide.

Great integrity, truth about haunts, not fables

This is my third time taking this ghost tour, I am local and always prefer this ghost tour company...everytime I have a visitor I bring them on this tour because I want them to have a great experience without a lot of fluff and accuracies of the history, not fable telling....My guest was very pleased with this tour as well, she enjoyed the enthusiasm of the tour guide and the privilege to go into the Unitarian Cemetery. As always, in my opinion the best ghost tour in Charleston.
