The tour guide was informative. The stories were told in a way that kept attention of us all, even our 10 year old son.
Overall, the tour was a fun night out for our family. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. |

I believe the tour was mostly historical. Not as scary as I thought it would be. Our family of five, three boys ages 15, 11, and 9 were a little apprehensive at first, but everyone agreed that it was worth the time. The guide was extremely knowledgable about the history and places of Charleston. The swealtering heat of 90 at 9:30, made it a little hard to concentrate to every word he said. Over all, we agreed we were glad we went, the kids did not get scared out of their minds. It's mostly ghost stories told in alleys and a graveyard with a lot of history thrown in. This was our first ghost tour ever and were glad we did it in Charleston. |

The tour was interesting but the guide talked way............ to fast. We had a really hard time understanding him. His knowledge and enthusiasm and theatrical skills were fantastic but we could not understand a lot of it. |

Tour was very entertaining and the guide was very fun to listen to as he told the stories of the ghosts that inhabited the places we stopped. The Unitarian Cemetary was very eerie at night and all the old tombstones and spanish moss just made it that more eerie. Would not want to be locked in by myself in the very wee hours of the morning! |

Our guide was very knowledgeable and professional. One word of caution - if you don't like puns, don't take the tour. We enjoyed hearing the local ghost stories and our guide's personal connection with the ghosts. Nicely done! |

The guy that gave us the tour was certainly a great storyteller, although sometimes he spoke too fast. He's been doing it a long time and it shows - he really knew his stuff. However, I wasn't impressed when we only saw 3 places that are deemed to be haunted, when he said there are potentially thousands in Charleston. Then, one story he told was good, but I didn't see where he was talking about a particular place where we were standing.
All in all for the price, I wouldn't recommend it. Too much for too little. The guy was really good, but not worth me paying $75. |

Ghosts of Charleston Review

The ghost tour is based of the book, "Ghosts of Charleston." The book has been researched in depth, so the tour is not only about ghost stories, is gives a lot about Charleston history. The tour is not meant to scare you, it is meant to educate you. I definitely recommend that you take the tour in the dark, it adds atmosphere. The guide was very entertaining and it is obvious that he enjoys giving these tours. Our group had a very good time and we recommend this ghost tour to others. |

I wish I could remember the name of our guide because I'd warn everyone off. I've been on a lot of ghost and history tours and have found the guide can make or break the tour. This one memorized all the ghost stories and relayed them at break neck speed. At times, he talked so fast and used so many adjectives to describe the diabolical and nefarious ghostly deeds sure to send tingling and icy chills down our spines (you get the idea) that it was hard to understand him...I think the kids in the group just gave up.
but, of course, without a name, this review doesn't help much so I guess I would use a different tour company to be on the safe side-there are lots out there to choose from. |

My husband and I were sorely disappointed in the advertisement and end result of this tour. We "thought" going by the brochure that we were going on a guided "ghost" tour not a history tour. We heard the same stories from this guide that we heard on the Tour of Charleston. Therefore, we paid for the same tour twice. We had seen a ghost tour from Chatleston on The Travel Channel and saw more on it than on the tour. We would not reccommend this tour if you want the "feel" of ghosts and mystery. However, if you only want the history of some of the ghosts and legends and wish to walk at night (in the lighted streets) then this is the one for you! We will say our tour guide was extremely knowledegable about his subject matter and more than willing to answer questions, etc. This tour would also be child friendly. |

Rodney, the tour guide was not only personable but very well informed and communicative. Our 7 year old grandson kept up with him the whole way and that is all he talked about on the trip home. We not only learned about pirates and their impact on Charleston, but also some great history. We have told many people about this tour and Rodney. He is a true gem. |

The ghost tour was a great way to spend an evening with the family. We did the early evening tour and our guide was a fantastic story teller. Our guide made the tour entertaining as well as educational. The tour ended in a cemetery which was quite the grand finale. Because we did the early evening tour, it was not dark out yet so it was not at all scary for any of the kids. I would recommend this tour. As a suggestion, remember to bring water and wear good walking shoes and bug spray. |

My wife and I had a great time on the ghost tour. It was exactly what we expected - walking through town hearing different historic tales of Charlestonians and descriptive accounts of ghost encounters. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about Charleston, its history, and the ghost stories she told without making the history too dry and the ghost telling too cheesy. It was a fun way to spend an evening and we recommend it to every tourist. |

First, let me say that the tour people were very nice, and when I made a mistake with the dates of the tour, they allowed me to change them. That said, the ghost tour is simply not worth it.
We have been on other ghost tours, in New Orleans and Key West. Those tours were excellent. This was boring, and a waste of time.
The guide could not make any story seem exciting, or interesting. He completely failed at making us feel any connection with any of the people. Some of the stories were told in settings that were fully unrelated to the tale, simply to fill in the time in between stops.
He kept on peppering his stories with recent tales from other countries, like Russia, and he told us his personal story about his father in law passing away, further taking us from the Ghost of Charleston setting.
He wasted every chance to make the story exciting., The stop at the Unitarian church , where the body of the first female mass murdered is supposed to be buried, should have been the highlight of the tour. Instead, the tale was told somewhere else, and when we got to the cementary he simply said; "she could be buried anywhere" as talking about a hamster. Honestly, I don;t even know why we went there.
I kept looking at my watch, hopping the time would go faster. Not a good sign.
I regret having picked this tour. I feel I wasted our time and our money.
The following day, we went to Savannah and took the most wonderful horse carriage tour. What a difference. |

We were in Charleston on New Year's Day and were excited to see that you had ghost tours available. Our guide was awesome! He was such a good storyteller and very friendly. I would definitely recommend to anyone headed to Charleston! |
