A little disappointed

I was disappointed with the ghost tour. The guide seemed somewhat unprepared. It felt more like an historical walk and not nearly as informative as a carriage tour that we had taken earlier that day. For what it was, it was very expensive. The guide told one story that was not appropriate for the makeup of the group.

I enjoyed the walking tour. It was very interesting as i am a paranormal enthusiast. My husband and my self were the only two on this tour, so that made it even better. ( we took the 5pm tour). Wish it was longer. Make sure to wear good walking shoes and bring water if day is hot.

We enjoyed the tour. It wasn't very scary, but it was pretty informative (our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston). We went at night, which I would recommend. If you want a general overview of the "haunting" of Charleston, this is an excellent place to begin. If you want to be freaked out a little more, you might want to try the "Ghosts of Charleston II" tour. This one was more family-friendly and enjoyable for anyone.

We really enjoyed the ghost tour. Spooky but not frightening. Our guide Kyle was a great storyteller.

Not bad, not great

We enjoyed Charleston, and some of the stories were good. The tour guide should have been more dynamic and polished in his storytelling. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that we took the 9:30pm tour, but I thought it also would have been more interesting if we could actually see inside some of the places that we visited (e.g. the dungeon). Also, the fact that we apparently couldn't even visit the outside of many of the places because of residential zoning restrictions, took away a bit from the enjoyment of the stories. It would have been better if the tour was more focused on stories about places that are available to visit, or if some other technique was used to better put the stories into context. Overall, the tour was enjoyable, but not great. We had previously taken a walking ghost tour in London and it was far superior.

Informative but not scary

Was a good tour with lots of information but not scary and didn't seem to follow same guidelines set in advertisement through the company; was hoping it to be a little more aprehensive with the "GHOST" theory; also not as many stories told as was first thought from the add either. Overall ...good .......recommended for the family style so as not to scare children but not as 'spooky' as would have likened to hear and see.

My husband and I were extremely disaapointed. We were highly anticipating this tour and could not wait to do the tour after reading a Southern Living review. Unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations. A tour is only as good as your tour guide. We felt that it was boring and stale.

Enjoyable diversion but not earth-shattering
Paranormalist Jim Callahan at Buxton's Theatre

The show we attended had only 7 people total in the audience. It probably would have been more fun with a larger group. Mr. Callahan's tricks were entertaining, but he promises a paranormal experience, and that's certainly not what he delivered. It was polished but very easy to see how the tricks were done. If the show were marketed strictly as a magic show, that would be one thing, but Mr. Callahan has to take it in another direction. He claims that he's made a deal with a man who has yet to be born. That's nothing but a silly gimmick. He uses some pendulums to "prove" that this being is present, and he shows a short film of how he originally made contact with him. That's the extent of his deal with a man yet to be born. On the plus side, Mr. Callahan is a good storyteller and performer. It is an enjoyable diversion, but don't expect to be blown away.

Ghost Walk for a family
Sat, Aug 5, 06   7:30 PM sparker Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
The Ghost Walk was very good and was enjoyed by our family on a very hot night in Charleston. The presenters were informed and interesting, even our young grandchildren were interested in what they had to tell. Afterward, we each chose a favorite ghost story, to tell a little about among ourselves Thanks for a good, not evening.
