Overall worth the money

| I do think they took us to businesses to try and drum up more business for the places, but our tour guide was very entertaining. Older gentleman with glasses...I can't remember his name. I think if we didn't have him as a guide it would have sucked. I say it was worth the money because going into the graveyard at night was awesome. We had happened across the Unitarian Graveyard earlier in the day, so thats the whole reason we took the tour to be able to see it at night. My other recommendation is to go into the graveyard during the day. It was beautiful and interesting in that they leave it all overgrown and "natural" looking. | ||||||

| Our tour guide, Ian, was fantastic. He was personable, energetic and very knowledgeable. The tour was both entertaining and informative. I grew up in Charleston and didn't know half of what he presented to us. He has the ability to take places that I just took for granted and present them in a new and interesting light. If you take this tour I hope you get this guide. Definitely worth the price. | ||||||

| It was interesting, but the guide was cheesy. We mostly stood in parking lots and talked about different stuff. When first meeting up with the group not really sure what was going on, seemed a bit shady. Didn't have to confirm anything with the guide, only the name. Even though they were sold out a few people hoped on at the last minute, which I think is why our guide was cheesy...for all I know the guide pocketed the new peoples cash and his buddy took over for the other half of the people that got bumped due to the new people coming on. I won't do another one of these tours again with this company, it was way too expensive for what I experienced. Having talked with other people that have done other tours, we drew the short end of the stick. The stories others told were far more entertaining than the ones we heard. In all honesty, if I was 9 it would have been great, but I'm not 9 and it wasn't all that good. | ||||||

| I am not one who believes in ghost. I took this tour in hopes of a little fun and to learn more about Charleston's past. Both happened. The tour guide conducted the tour in a way that was fun, informative and respectful of those who believe and those who don't. | ||||||

| The tour was more walking than any stories. The 2 ghosts stories were given with too much acting like they should be spooky (the woo-woo's) but not any good meat to the stories. The tour was over booked and we had what was apparently a substitute guide. I have been on ghost tours before and found them interesting and have recommended taking the tours to my friends and family. This is not one that I or my sisters would advise. It left me dissappointed and not even interested in following up on anything (there wasn't any stories to follow up on). The last and worst part of the evening was that at 11pm we were left in an area of town that was not where we started the tour. The guide did give directions back to the original meeting place, but it was dark, not many people around and we weren't familiar with the city. Getting back to the car was much creepier than the tour. | ||||||

| My friend and I decided to do the ghost walk to end our day spent in Charleston. Our guide was friendly and informative. At each sight that he took us to, he gave a brief and to the point history lesson. Then spoke of the tragic event that had happened and then gave a few examples of peoples ghostly experiences. The graveyard is dark, over grown, looks ominous, and holds a sad story... Our guide kept my attention the whole time because he was not "long winded" and told 3 "to the point" stories (historic, tragic, haunting). It was a nice ending to our day and I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to have a fun time and even learn a little history! | ||||||

| I believe the tour was mostly historical. Not as scary as I thought it would be. Our family of five, three boys ages 15, 11, and 9 were a little apprehensive at first, but everyone agreed that it was worth the time. The guide was extremely knowledgable about the history and places of Charleston. The swealtering heat of 90 at 9:30, made it a little hard to concentrate to every word he said. Over all, we agreed we were glad we went, the kids did not get scared out of their minds. It's mostly ghost stories told in alleys and a graveyard with a lot of history thrown in. This was our first ghost tour ever and were glad we did it in Charleston. | ||||||

| I took this tour two years ago with a different guide and also read the book that the tour is based upon. History is one of my favorite subjects and our guide was definitley very knowledgeable on the subject. I would have appreciated more time spent on the ghost stories from the book and less time on local history, as important and informative as it is. The tour was supposed to last 80 minutes but it ended up being 2 hours. While I enjoyed hearing about our guides personal background, I think that if he had pared this down a bit, as well as some of the historical information, we would have had more time for addtional ghost stories and the tour would not have run overtime. Our tour guide was obviously well educated and interesting and would have been someone you would love to have a few hours with to learn all about Charleston, or history in general. I did enjoy going into the Unitarian Church graveyard, spiderwebs and all. I missed going to the Brewery and Poogan's Porch. I have taken another ghost tour and it did not compare to this one. I would say this is the best ghost tour in Charleston. | ||||||

| Tour started OK. tour guide had a very cocky attitude. Talked more about his experience at the beginning than the history of Charleston. Just ignored it. Once we got ouf ot Waterfront Park, it got better. However, when we were at the stop in front of the church, another tour guide was already there. She made a comment about how loud our tour guide was talking ( this was true). Our guide rudely told her to NEVER interupt his tour again. I thought that it was rude and out of line. It was VERY uncomfortable for us. After the graveyard tour, he took us toward the starting point at the water park. It was obvious that most of the group was turned off by his presenation. He then ended the tour 4 blocks from the Waterfront Park and stated that he couldn't guide the tour through a residential neighborhood. I got the impression that he know he "blew it" and the possiblity for tips were slim-to-none so he dumped us off as qucikly as possible. This was our first visit to Charleston and our first guided tour. We were dissapointed and would like to see a better tour. | ||||||

| The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and his stories were interesting! We have been on other Charleston ghost tours, but this one was our favorite! We were able to enter locations that are usually inaccessible to the public. Good time! | ||||||

| Our tour guide, an older professorial type, was an excellent storyteller although he needed to speak louder as I found him hard to hear unless I was up in the front of the group. He was great with the kids in the group and played to them quite a bit. Actually going into the Unitarian Church graveyard was much more fun than standing outside and looking through the fence like on other tours. The problem I had with the tour overall is that we were walked all over Charleston and more often than not the place we stopped was nowhere near the location where the haunting actually took place. They were good stories, but it would have been better not to be sitting in Waterfront Park being told a story about a B&B on the Battery blocks away or standing on the corner of Broad Street being told a story of a house three blocks to the south. With the exception of the graveyard we might as well have just stayed in Waterfront Park and saved a little wear and tear on our already tired feet. All in all this is a nice safe, not to scary choice for families with younger children. It was a little sedate for an all adult group like mine, however. Not the worst ghost tour I’ve ever been on, but not the best either. Just a tip – bring bug spray! Also, the tour ends in a different location than it begins so be prepared to walk back to your hotel/car on your own. | ||||||
