Very Informative

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. He provided us with information that we would not have acquired on our own without hours of research. He summarized historical events in a classroom manner making it easly understood and interesting. The tour itself took us down main streetd, side streets, alleys, into buildings and viewing artwork and photos that pointed out historical and current Charleston lifestyles. We recommend it highly.

Great

My family which consisted of my husband and two grown sons really enjoyed our historic walking tour. I would highly recommend it and I definitely want to return to Charleston. Our guide was very informative and really knows the history of the places we were taken. Most of all she was very enthusuiastic and really seem to love her job. What I really liked the most was the streets and alleys that she took us through. We would of never seen these if we had taken a carriage ride, although I am sure those are nice too. It was a fantasic morning, the weather was perfect for walking and we all had a wonderful family experience and made a great memory.

Ghost Walk for a family
Sat, Aug 5, 06   7:30 PM sparker Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
The Ghost Walk was very good and was enjoyed by our family on a very hot night in Charleston. The presenters were informed and interesting, even our young grandchildren were interested in what they had to tell. Afterward, we each chose a favorite ghost story, to tell a little about among ourselves Thanks for a good, not evening.

You will be pleasantly spooked!

Kyle, our Guide, was a wonderful conductor into the spookiness of Charleston's history. The whole tour time literally flew by as we moved through the streets, alleys, and graveyards. You will be delightfully spooked by tales; and Kyle's reserve of Charleston's history will bring a whole new prospective on the neighborhood that looks so serene in the daylight. The hair on the back of my neck was standing and tingling from the mid-point of the opening story about Room No 8 at a local Inn to the ending tale of the spinster in the top-floor window of the final stop across the street From the Mill House Inn. Take the plunge, you will be delighted with the tour!

We got started right on time. It was advertized to last 1:20 and it did. The guide likes what he does and this made the tour fun.

Not worth it

First, let me say that the tour people were very nice, and when I made a mistake with the dates of the tour, they allowed me to change them. That said, the ghost tour is simply not worth it. We have been on other ghost tours, in New Orleans and Key West. Those tours were excellent. This was boring, and a waste of time. The guide could not make any story seem exciting, or interesting. He completely failed at making us feel any connection with any of the people. Some of the stories were told in settings that were fully unrelated to the tale, simply to fill in the time in between stops. He kept on peppering his stories with recent tales from other countries, like Russia, and he told us his personal story about his father in law passing away, further taking us from the Ghost of Charleston setting. He wasted every chance to make the story exciting., The stop at the Unitarian church , where the body of the first female mass murdered is supposed to be buried, should have been the highlight of the tour. Instead, the tale was told somewhere else, and when we got to the cementary he simply said; "she could be buried anywhere" as talking about a hamster. Honestly, I don;t even know why we went there. I kept looking at my watch, hopping the time would go faster. Not a good sign. I regret having picked this tour. I feel I wasted our time and our money. The following day, we went to Savannah and took the most wonderful horse carriage tour. What a difference.

We had a group with various ages - parents and children ages 17, 14 and 11. All of us loved the tour. It was informative, suspenseful, engaging and a lot of fun. Walking around Charleston at night with a tour guide was wonderful and magical. We all highly recommend this tour.

Unenthusiastic guide made this tour a dud
Wed, Oct 17, 12   7:30 PM Herickson5 Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Guide started late. Texted his friend and talked about sports in between stops. He made fun of other guide operators who used props and costumes (he was dressed very casually in shorts and tee). His descriptions were very perfunctory, and text book. He brought up the subject of tips in an back-handed way. All in all, it was dull and irksome. I would not recommend this tour, at least not with the tour guide we had (I apologize that I cannot remember his name). I think this tour could have been a lot of fun with someone who cared about his presentation.

Ian made the Ghost Tour so much fun and told wonderful stories with unbelieveable dramatic acting, I would recommend this tour just to see Ian in action, he will not disappoint you. Loved it.

The Tour Guide is the Key to a Ghostly Walk
Tue, Jul 24, 12   9:30 PM dlebeda Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We chose a late night walk to put the stories in perspective. As with all tours, the tour guide makes the event interesting or a bomb. Our guide was a very nice and polite gentleman, but he didn't have the ability to capture and maintain the groups interest. The young teens on the tour were texting and the adults were just as bored. In the middle of the tour, we were close to our hotel and my husband wanted to cut out but of course we didn't. I saw several other tour groups led by younger guides who were really embellishing the stories - not sure if their groups were being happily entertained or not. In my opinion, if more of the town's history was told as the walk progressed with the ghost stories, it might make it more interesting and again the guide is the key. I would recommend taking the tour at night - we walked through alleys and streets I wouldn't walk in the daylight which made it entertaining; as well as a walk through a cemetery which boosted our "spirits".

did not finish tour

I left the tour about 35 min into the tour I felt there was lengthy talk on history and jumping up and down off walls with no stairs or handrails which I was not able to do, even though I am able to walk distances.
