| Though we could see the potential for a great tour in Charleston, we were disappointed. Our guide was trying to0 hard... he did too much interpretation, tried to be suspenseful and "dramatic" and just didn't quite pull it off. At one point he pulled out the book to show us a picture, which speaking for myself, I couldn't really see what he was trying to point out. It would have been much better if he had simply relied on the historical facts of what happened and what people thought they saw. In my opinion the fun is in the unanswered questions. In a town as rich in culture and history as Charleston is, it seems like it shouldn't be that difficult to do- no spin required! He also told us a story of something he had supposedly experienced at the graveyard, but that left one of the teens with us asking if every tour guide had to have had a personal experience with a ghost as a prerequisite to get the job. While still at the graveyard, another tour showed up behind us, making it necessary for our tour to move on... One other thing to note, we took the 9:30 tour. The public restrooms are closed at that hour and the businesses do not want people coming in to simply use the restroom. With 90+ minutes of walking and waiting around to do, that's a problem. | ||||||

| We thought the guide made some rather cheesy jokes and seemed full of himself. He seemed to be too defensive about his information when asked certain questions. We had thought we would be hearing some information about other ghost stories other than the church cemetary ones. I think you should plan out places for the tour group to escape the rain deluges that are common to Charleston in the summer especially at the end of the tour. We were left to fend for ourselves in a strange city which we did not know. You should tell customers to bring flashlights even to the 7:30p.m. tour because it was dark when we finished ours and raining very hard and we had to run down the sidewalks. Every sidewalk was filled with things to trip over and my husband fell in a large hole in one of them and could have been really injured badly instead of bruised and shaken up. I did not know our tour was mostly just church cemetaries. We did learn some interesting facts and overall enjoyed the tour. Also there was nowhere to go to the bathroom. My husband went in the bushes! I could not have done that. | ||||||

| The ghost of charleston tour was fun- it was held late in the day so by they time the tour ended we were in a very spooky cemetary- I almost expected a ghost to pop out from behind a headstone! | ||||||

| We found the ghost tour very entertaining. It was easy to sign up for the tour and to meet at the fountain in the park. Whether you believe in spirits or not, the tour was interesting because of the history that you learn about the city. The only negative that I find with the tour is, that when the tour ends, you are on your own to find your way back to your vehicle. I realize that other companies also do this, but being from out of town & a couple of women, I find that I would have felt safer if the tour would end when we started. | ||||||

| Our tour was great. We were late and our guide waited for us to arrive and personally called me to ask our location. He then took us on the tour making the effort to be personal with almost everyone in attendance. He was extremely knowledgeable about the locations visited and was able to quote the book, which we purchased and read prior to the tour. We highly recommend this tour to anybody looking for a thrilling, educational evening. The night tour is a must! | ||||||

| First, My husband and myself didn't' much care for our guide. He came off as somewhat arrogant and abrasive needless to say that started things off on the wrong foot. The tour was more of a history lesson than a ghost tour. Although, I have to say that the finale of the tour was most exciting and scary but not enough to save the overall experience. Apparently, Charleston has quite a few restrictions regarding residential encroachment which left us venturing thourgh back alleys with a long walk back to our starting point and car. If you really want to experience ghosts, I recommend Savanah, Ga they have great tours. | ||||||

| Our tour was fun and interesting. I thought there would be more "ghost stories", but there was a lot of history included in the tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable about the city of Charleston. I would recommend it for something fun to do on a warm evening. I would also recommend doing the late tour when it is dark out to add to the ambiance of the tour. | ||||||

| My wife and I decided on this tour because of its reputation as the best in Charleston. We really enjoyed the tour and thought our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. He was very animated which added to the experience. Not really that scary with the exception of the graveyard that this company has exclusive rights to go into. | ||||||

| We enjoyed the history told around the ghost stories. Our tour guide, Ian, was VERY knowledgable and even interjected his own personal experience with the supernatural. He knew just where to take us around the city, and didn't waste time. The 80 minutes went by very quickly. It was well worth the money spent. A good time was had by all. | ||||||

| I have been to the downtown Wilmington area so many times, and its so neat how much interesting history is hiding behind a simple window, cemetary gate, an empty parking lot or even a bush. We had loads of fun and would do again! | ||||||

Lots of Words, No Ghosts

| We were really looking forward to this ghost tour, but it failed our expectations. We spent a great deal of time seated, listening to lots of history and hearing a few tales about ghosts elsewhere--in buildings we weren't even near. The guide seemed more interested in telling really bad jokes than entertaining us with tales of the supernatural. And his jokes were so bad that it was embarrassing. No one laughed, even though he clearly waited for a response. He also rambled, and sometimes I found it difficult to figure out what he was talking about. He spent way too much time discussing the "symbols" of death and too little time talking about spirits. And while he talked about ghosts in various buildings around the city, he sometimes ignored stories of places right there in front of us. For example, we passed Poogan's Porch twice, and he never even mentioned the ghost there. The highlight of the tour--if there was a highlight--was the very short time we spent inside the Unitarian Cemetery. But even then, the guide rambled a little too dramatically about his personal encounter with the Lady in White. I would have preferred 10 minutes to ramble through the cemetery rather than 10 minutes of his rambling tale. It was a nice night to be out in the streets of Charleston, and that alone was a good experience, But the ghost tour itself was truly disappointing. We plan to try another company's tour as a comparison. Hopefully, there is a good, scary tour out there. | ||||||

| I'm sorry to report that this tour was such a disappointment. Since it is rare (I assume) that a ghost actually graces these tours with its presence, the tour depends on (1) interesting history and (2) a good storyteller tour guide. The history is there, but our poor guide turned the time into an ordeal. Rather than being weird in a good way, he was just weird. It seemed obvious that he knew his history. But it seemed equally obvious that he'd told the stories so many times that he'd lost whatever connection he might have once had with his audience. Jerky, disjointed narrative that was so hard to follow...and I really tried. By the time we reached the last 15 minutes it was torture just to keep listening. On a carriage tour the day before, the guide mentioned that after so many tours the horses get two weeks in the pasture. You might want to consider that for your humans. Like I said, sorry to bear a bad report, but this tour was terrible | ||||||

| The tour was both entertaining and informative. Our guide, Ian, was extremely knowledgeable and provided a humorous, and at times spooky commentary that kept his audience interested the entire time. Historic downtown Charleston architecture and landscapes are an excellent backdrop for the ghostly stories recounted by the tour guide. | ||||||
