The guide was not really a very good story teller. I think with a better guide it would have been more interesting and enjoyable.

Fun and interesting tour!

The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and his stories were interesting! We have been on other Charleston ghost tours, but this one was our favorite! We were able to enter locations that are usually inaccessible to the public. Good time!

It was okay....

Our tour guide, an older professorial type, was an excellent storyteller although he needed to speak louder as I found him hard to hear unless I was up in the front of the group. He was great with the kids in the group and played to them quite a bit. Actually going into the Unitarian Church graveyard was much more fun than standing outside and looking through the fence like on other tours. The problem I had with the tour overall is that we were walked all over Charleston and more often than not the place we stopped was nowhere near the location where the haunting actually took place. They were good stories, but it would have been better not to be sitting in Waterfront Park being told a story about a B&B on the Battery blocks away or standing on the corner of Broad Street being told a story of a house three blocks to the south. With the exception of the graveyard we might as well have just stayed in Waterfront Park and saved a little wear and tear on our already tired feet. All in all this is a nice safe, not to scary choice for families with younger children. It was a little sedate for an all adult group like mine, however. Not the worst ghost tour I’ve ever been on, but not the best either. Just a tip – bring bug spray! Also, the tour ends in a different location than it begins so be prepared to walk back to your hotel/car on your own.

Luck of the draw- depends on the guide you get...

Though we could see the potential for a great tour in Charleston, we were disappointed. Our guide was trying to0 hard... he did too much interpretation, tried to be suspenseful and "dramatic" and just didn't quite pull it off. At one point he pulled out the book to show us a picture, which speaking for myself, I couldn't really see what he was trying to point out. It would have been much better if he had simply relied on the historical facts of what happened and what people thought they saw. In my opinion the fun is in the unanswered questions. In a town as rich in culture and history as Charleston is, it seems like it shouldn't be that difficult to do- no spin required! He also told us a story of something he had supposedly experienced at the graveyard, but that left one of the teens with us asking if every tour guide had to have had a personal experience with a ghost as a prerequisite to get the job. While still at the graveyard, another tour showed up behind us, making it necessary for our tour to move on... One other thing to note, we took the 9:30 tour. The public restrooms are closed at that hour and the businesses do not want people coming in to simply use the restroom. With 90+ minutes of walking and waiting around to do, that's a problem.

Ghosts of Charleston Tour

We thought the guide made some rather cheesy jokes and seemed full of himself. He seemed to be too defensive about his information when asked certain questions. We had thought we would be hearing some information about other ghost stories other than the church cemetary ones. I think you should plan out places for the tour group to escape the rain deluges that are common to Charleston in the summer especially at the end of the tour. We were left to fend for ourselves in a strange city which we did not know. You should tell customers to bring flashlights even to the 7:30p.m. tour because it was dark when we finished ours and raining very hard and we had to run down the sidewalks. Every sidewalk was filled with things to trip over and my husband fell in a large hole in one of them and could have been really injured badly instead of bruised and shaken up. I did not know our tour was mostly just church cemetaries. We did learn some interesting facts and overall enjoyed the tour. Also there was nowhere to go to the bathroom. My husband went in the bushes! I could not have done that.

The ghost of charleston tour was fun- it was held late in the day so by they time the tour ended we were in a very spooky cemetary- I almost expected a ghost to pop out from behind a headstone!

Ghost tour

We found the ghost tour very entertaining. It was easy to sign up for the tour and to meet at the fountain in the park. Whether you believe in spirits or not, the tour was interesting because of the history that you learn about the city. The only negative that I find with the tour is, that when the tour ends, you are on your own to find your way back to your vehicle. I realize that other companies also do this, but being from out of town & a couple of women, I find that I would have felt safer if the tour would end when we started.

Our tour was great. We were late and our guide waited for us to arrive and personally called me to ask our location. He then took us on the tour making the effort to be personal with almost everyone in attendance. He was extremely knowledgeable about the locations visited and was able to quote the book, which we purchased and read prior to the tour. We highly recommend this tour to anybody looking for a thrilling, educational evening. The night tour is a must!

Wasn't what I had visualized when I booked the tou

First, My husband and myself didn't' much care for our guide. He came off as somewhat arrogant and abrasive needless to say that started things off on the wrong foot. The tour was more of a history lesson than a ghost tour. Although, I have to say that the finale of the tour was most exciting and scary but not enough to save the overall experience. Apparently, Charleston has quite a few restrictions regarding residential encroachment which left us venturing thourgh back alleys with a long walk back to our starting point and car. If you really want to experience ghosts, I recommend Savanah, Ga they have great tours.

Our tour was fun and interesting. I thought there would be more "ghost stories", but there was a lot of history included in the tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable about the city of Charleston. I would recommend it for something fun to do on a warm evening. I would also recommend doing the late tour when it is dark out to add to the ambiance of the tour.

I can not recall the name of our guide, but he was an excellent storyteller! And made the ghosts of Charleston come alive as we toured. We had a blast!

Great Tour with a fun Tour Guide

My wife and I decided on this tour because of its reputation as the best in Charleston. We really enjoyed the tour and thought our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. He was very animated which added to the experience. Not really that scary with the exception of the graveyard that this company has exclusive rights to go into.

We enjoyed the history told around the ghost stories. Our tour guide, Ian, was VERY knowledgable and even interjected his own personal experience with the supernatural. He knew just where to take us around the city, and didn't waste time. The 80 minutes went by very quickly. It was well worth the money spent. A good time was had by all.

I have been to the downtown Wilmington area so many times, and its so neat how much interesting history is hiding behind a simple window, cemetary gate, an empty parking lot or even a bush. We had loads of fun and would do again!
