i have been on several food tours in NYC and have a formed a baseline for my expectations for the Annapolis food tour. and i can honestly say, the food was subpar.
first off, my gf and i where the only two people on the tour. so it was a more one on one experience with the tour guide. Our guide, "squire" james was very friendly and helpful. he was definitely a very knowledgeable in the area and was very fun to hang out with. my gf and i had a blast joking around and taking about each others personal lives. the various tour stops along the way were nice mix of both historic locations and more modern tourist spots.
food wise..i thought it was sub par. first we had some ice coffee and some book store/cafe. nothing special. then some fried crab balls at some tavern. (ehh..it was so so). then some gelato (bleh...i was getting sick from all the weird food in my belly). the some crab dip at philips (food was so so...bread was kinda stale...they gave us nice souvenir glasses). had some fried coconut shrimp (nothing special). had some more ice cream (was getting sick from all the weird food combos)
my 2 cents...dont go expecting a great meal from it...we ended up getting beers and burgers afterwords which was 100x better then everything we ate before this. the historic tour of the city was worth it...so feeding us along the way was a decent bonus. |

I highly recommend the Annapolis Food and History Walking Tour. The tour gives visitors an excellent overview of the city's history and architecture with plenty of stops along the way for refreshment and samples of the local quisine. Our guide, Mistress Susan, was very personable and accomodating. |

Marco was a great historian and docent, we loved all of the food, it is our second time taking this tour, there was plenty to eat for a lunch. Recommend that the guide have some advertisement or handout to give to interested gawkers--maybe a logo on your leather pouch so others know how to take the tour. We liked the two new seafood additions to the tour but we also miss the popovers from last summer. Keep up the great work, see you next summer! |

enjoyed tour; would have enjoyed it more if everyone had been wearing comfortable walking shoes; we were late arriving at many of the stops which caused mild confusion for the stop owners. |

Highly recommend to others. The quality of the tour was largely due to our guide, who was top-notch and courteous, not a dull moment on the entire tour. My wife and myself (form PA) were joined by another couple (from GA) and our guide (5 total in group). Did not feel rushed at any time on the tour. Immediately impressed with warm reception by guide at meeting place, the audio receiver and earpiece provided (necessity when walking thru town), courtesy bottled water and coffee. Tour office surervisor checked two times to make sure everyone was satisfied. Each destination was ready for our arrival and all involved were very friendly and open to questions. Food / drink samples at various eating establishments were great. We returned to Irish restaurant across from State House for lunch following day. Will return to restaurant at Maryland Inn again in future for popovers. Two suggestions for improvement: 1) Provide larger bag at beginning of tour to hold bottled water and misc. trinkets provided by restuarants along the tour; and, 2) add color coded depiction of historic landmark plaques on map handout with key / legend to show time period. In the words of our guide, Marco, all of the above Tis True, Tis True! |

Truly enjoyable walking tour with lots of historical stories and locations. Then we had numerous stops for crab balls, crab dip, popovers, cabbage rolls, ice cream, gelato (two separate stops), etc. Personable and charming guide. Loved the historical drinking toasts provided. Highly recommend tour. |

Marcos provided my wife and I with an amazing tour of eating establishments and individual homes with a great amount of information on each stop. I must say, the tastes of different foods at each stop provided us with enough nourishment to keep us satisfied until we returned home some hours later.
I didn't realize how much ground we covered till we returned to the place where we started and the tour guide gave us his summary of the tour. The tour was so interesting that the time passed quickly.
I will recommend this tour to all my friends who are going to Annapolis for a visit and also to some friends who live in the area. |

I didn't care for the food. It wasn't enough for lunch unless you don't mind eating a lot of ice-cream - we had it twice.
A few of the stops were interesting; some were not.
We had a beautiful day so it was nice to walk around. |

This is a really great way to see what Annapolis has to offer and learn a little about it's history. Even our 19 year old son wasn't bored. The quality and quantity of the food was excellent. The headsets worked great for hearing the guide, even with the street traffic noise. |

I met 6 or 7 friends for the tour and we all agreed that it was delightful! We learned so much about the colonial days in Annapolis while enjoying some excellent samples of a variety of dishes. The food was perfectly ample - almost too much! Since my distant cousin lives in and gives tours of Sands House, and many of my ancestors had ties to Annapolis, there was an extra personal charm for me. |
