We really enjoyed our tour. We've been on lots of tours in all kinds of places, he was one of the best for sure. Very interesting tidbits and details that I never would have found out reading wikipedia (or anywhere else for that matter). Well worth the money.

Never Again

We have visited Annapolis several times and enjoy the town very much. We saw this tour as an opportunity to see and experience places we may have missed. The tour asked that we arrive 15 minutes early and that it would begin promptly at the scheduled time. We arrived 15 minutes early only to wait 45 minutes to even begin. Once we began we quickly realized that we were not in Kansas anymore! The tour guide, while he seemed like a knowledgeable and nice man, talked incessantly and turned a tour that was advertised to run for 1 hour and 45 minutes into a 2 hour long tour. We saw very little and had to endure being talked at until we could not take it any longer. 2 hours in and it was still not over so we actually left in the middle of it. Long story short...save the 50+ dollars and see the sights on your own. They don't take you anywhere you cannot go on your own.

Carolyn was a wonderful guide who showed us the historic sites with enthusiasm. It is very apparent how much she loves Annapolis. She was very knowledgeable and made it an interesting afternoon for our group of four. I would highly recommend this tour to friends.

Wonderful and Entertaining!

This was probably the highlight of our Annapolis trip (besides the food!). Our tour guide Susan was funny, knowledgeable, warm, and knew everyone's name in the group within 5 minutes of meeting each other. She routinely got us involved in the history behind Annapolis and we visited great places that we wouldn't have gotten on the trolley tour or on our own. The food we sampled was delicious and more than enough for even my husband -- we did not go hungry. Because we stopped often and were able to sit, it didn't feel like a mile walk, either. The other wonderful feature of this tour is that they all give us headsets so we could listen to Susan as if she was standing right next to us. I wish they had this for the US Naval Academy tour because otherwise I wouldn't have heard anything she said. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody who is interested in learning about Annapolis!

This was my first trip to Annapolis but I hope not my last. It was very moving to see history 1st hand and hearing about the culture and customs of the period really solidifies the historic values of our nation and forefathers.

Unexpected Entertainment in downtown Annapolis

We would recommend Susan's tour to all comers. Do this one first. That way you get to sample the decor and food of various restaurants. Make your reservations later. All venues were extremely welcoming as well a passers- by on the sidewalks. (Watch out for uneven bricks) Several locals invited us into their homes as well. It happened to be the annual Croquet Match weekend...What a Hoot! We detoured a block to the edge of St. John's campus due to a fire across the street from our Irish Cabbage Rolls stop. Amazing how those fire trucks negotiate the narrow streets. We were not able to sample there but the tour was great anyway. The "ear buds" are a good idea too as well as the easily read map and discount coupons provided at the end of the tour.

Outstanding Detailed Tour of Annapolis

This was an outstanding walking tour of Annapolis. Squire Gary provided so much fascinating detail of the city's history, the ~2 hour tour just flew by. I could have listened and walked for hours. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting Annapolis!

Tour Guide Very Knowledgeable
Sat, Apr 3, 10   2:30 PM tbaines Female 50-59 Local Family Without Children
The costumed guide--a friendly, middle-aged gentleman--obviously knows the subject matter thoroughly and enjoys conducting tours. He asked if anyone in our group of five had a special interest; while no one mentioned anything specific, I had the feeling he could have addressed most any area of interest, had the request been made. Given this gentleman's professionalism and desire to please, I hesitate to mention anything even mildly negative. Nonetheless, a couple of things detracted to some degree from my husband's and my experience. (Though we also appreciate how others could view these same things as positives.) First, our guide sometimes dwelled a bit too long on obscure facts or points (for example, the correct pronunciation of William Paca's surname and how certain individuals mispronounce it....or lengthy accounts of the sequence of events and dates in explaining that MD's capital was moved from St. Mary's City to Annapolis). Second, our tour turned out to be over 2-1/2 hours, rather than the advertised 1-3/4 to 2 hours. Since, due to physical issues, it was already a bit of a stretch (but manageable) for my husband and me to be on our feet for the expected 1-3/4 hours, the longer duration was definitely a challenge for both of us. In summary, despite the quibbles just expressed, we came away from our tour feeling pleased overall and would not hesitate to recommend the experience to others.

Delicious Tour

This tour was very enjoyable. The food samples were delicious with a nice variety and the history of the area was very interesting. Susan, our tour guide, was very friendly. I would highly recommend this tour if you have never been to Annapolis. The transistor ear pieces were great so that we didn't miss any of the tour as our guide was often walking ahead of us to our next stop.

Mary, our guide was informative and answered all of our questions. The walk was pleasant and the historical information was most interesting. Great for a nice over view of the area. Enjoyed the opportunity to go into the capital building.

SAILING THROUGH HISTORIC ANNAPOLIS
Fri, Nov 27, 09   1:00 PM mimimann Female 60-69 Local Family Without Children
Until my husband and I took the walking tour of historic Annapolis the day after Thanksgiving, we'd never been able to get a real "grip" on this very important part of Maryland and U.S. history. Parking remains such a struggle in the downtown area, quite frequently you don't spend extra hours simply walking along the cobblestone streets and gazing at the colorful houses and other remnants of Annapolis. There is so much history to be absorbed, and the guide helps you understant the immense significance of Annapolis and its inhabitants at different periods of its history. Unfortunately, some of the historic houses were closed, but that means another trip, perhaps in the spring when the weather turns lovely, and the flowers are out. This tour introduces Annapolis to you, leaving you wanting to return and experience even more of what's made Annapolis famous for generations.

MUST DO!

We were initially hesitant to book a walking tour with a family of reluctant teenage boys in tow. Our guide, Marco, was able to keep us all interested and engaged. We had no idea there was so much history in Annapolis (and one of our sons attends school there!) He gave us anecdotal tidbits that we would have never been able to get on our own. He whetted our appetite to do tours of the houses we visited. The price is very reasonable. The tour very organized. The guide very knowledgeable. For a great meal afterwards, try the Galway Bay Irish restaurant!

As someone who had never been to MD, the history learned was very much appreciated. Annapolis is a wonderful city and our tour guide, Gary, was very knowledgable. We were extremely happy we had gone on a "guided" tour. The price was right and we saw things we never would have found on our own.
