One of the coolest things I've ever done on a trip

I pre-paid for my Segway tour, got to the shop, got on the machine, and immediately thought, "Oh no... I've made a terrible mistake!" Only because I was wobbling all over the place. But then my tour guide told me to "trust the machine," and gave me very specific tips on how to make it do what I wanted it to do. Within 15 minutes or so, I was all over the place, just like an old pro. I had the BEST time. It was fun to see people react to our Segway group. Tourists were taking photos of us instead of the White House or the Capitol! The Segways were brand new, and they rode as smooth as silk. Very quiet, too. The route was good, and we got to see a lot. I enjoyed the tour guide. He was funny and helpful. I can't wait to travel to another city and see if they offer a Segway tour. Really, really a blast! (The only thing I would do differently is I would have taken a longer tour, or also taken a night tour.)

You should do it! Highly recommended!

I recommend the 9:30 tour as most museums on the route (around the mall) aren't open yet so the pedestrian traffic on sidewalks is minimized. No one else had signed up for my morning tour so it was just me and my Segway guide. Since I was already quite familiar with the sites, I was able to focus my attention on having fun with my Segway. Nonetheless, my guide did provide good info at each of the highlighted sites along with interesting "tidbits" about the sites I had not heard before. On Segway training: You'll spend a few minutes in the 'store' getting a preliminary feel for the segway==getting on, off, turning, stopping (after seeing a short general safety video on the Segway). Then it's off to the park right across the street to really get the hang of it. In my case, I'd say in about 10-15 minutes we were ready to hit the roads (sidewalks). I found the Segway to be quite stable in the same sense that I bike feels stable as soon as you learn to ride and get the hang of how it handles. I found that it was quite maneuverable and stopped quickly when needed as we crossed streets, weaved through pedestrians on sidewalks, etc. After about 30 more minutes I felt very comfortable with any maneuvers and full speed. The segway has plenty of power and accellerates rapidly when called for (I weigh 205 lb).

have been far better had the tour guide spoken softly/slower so that everyone can understand and enjoy it and not feel rushed (remember most people are tourists and some are international visitors and English is not always the fluent 1st language especially when someone is speaking super fast at each side visited). Awesome tour though, it's not my first and not my frist bringing group of people and marketing it, and won't be my last too.

I got this for my dad for his birthday, and it was a fantastic present! The Segways were tons of fun to play around on, and the tour guides gave an excellent tour of the city! I whole-heartedly recommend this to anyone!

Great way to see the sights of DC

I am truly convinced that using a segway is the only way to see DC. We were able to cover a lot of ground seeing the sights of DC without having to deal with traffic or parking. All the fun without the sore feet at the end of the day. I think my only suggestion would be to spend a bit more time at each location visited. We whisked thru many of the memorials so quickly, I didn't even have time to get my camera out for some quick pictures without being left behind. The tour guides were very knowledgeable of the local history which added an extra bit of flair to the tour. They did an excellent job and I would recommend this tour to others.

Great Segway Tour!

This was our first Segway experience and it was magical. This was the perfect way to see D.C. The tour guides were excellent, and we found it very, very easy to learn to use a Segway safely in a crowded environment. We will definitely recommend this (and other Segway experiences) to family and friends.

This Segway tour is excellent! Segway provides a great way to see the sights in Washington. The new Segway model used in this tour is very easy and natural to use, even more so than prior models. The operators of this tour are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Also taking the tour at the time we did was great, since there was less pedestrian traffic than during the day, and it was particularly easy to get around and see everything.
