A great experience, some cautions.

My wife, adult son and I took a 2-hour tour of Washington, DC on the Segway. We had a great time and had virtually no trouble learning to handle the Segway. The tour route was well designed to avoid curbs, bumps and steep inclines, because the device doesn't handle them well. The guide was helpful and very patient. Although it is billed as a tour, the Segway ride is really the thing, with a few interesting facts of the city thrown in. One member of our group did have some difficulty with "trusting" the self-balancing features of the Segway and fell off a few times, with some scrapes and bruises. Also, navigating through heavy sidewalk foot traffic is a bit unnerving. One more caveat--some motorists seemed to treat the Segway riders with less respect than pedestrians. We had a few close calls in the crosswalks when we clearly had the right of way. Would I do it again? Absolutely!

Excitement of Segway Even Better Than Attractions!

First time on a Segway for my wife and myself -- absolutely the most amazing experience! We both learned how to use the Segway within 2 minutes and felt comfortable within 5 minutes! By the time the tour actually left the store we were zipping and zooming with incredible precision, guiding the Segway between security posts in front of the White House with only inches to spare on either side. Our kids (8-year-old twins) loved riding together in the "Segshaw" behind the guide, handing out flyers to curious passers-by. Our guide, Steve, was patient with all four of us, and served as a great guide to the City. Next time we're in DC (or anyplace with a Segway tour), we are definitely signing up again! GREAT experience for the family.

Totally fun. Always wanted to run a Segway. Washington DC tour made it so much better. Even the spouse who has arthritis in her knees loved it. Got good info from tour guide. Already recommended to friends and co-workers. Best part was doing donuts in front of the White House. Scariest part was the safety video, the little stick figure guy dies horribly, but not to worry, we were fine! Do it!

If you're going to splurge on a guided tour of the city, this is the way to do it. My husband and I used to live in the D.C. area, but we learned a lot from this tour and had a great time riding the Segways. Our 17-year-old son and his friend declared that the Segway tour was the highlight of their trip. Don't miss it!

It was a good tour

It was a good tour of DC, though I thought the group of 12 was a little large. It would have been nice to have those who seemed to have some problems with riding the segway in a smaller slower group. Our tour was cut a little short due to a malfunction of a segway, which the lady riding probably caused the problem.

Great Fun

The tour was really fun and exciting. The segway machine gets a little getting used to at first but then its a blast. The tour guides were great and very patient and had extreme knowledge of the area. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience. Thumbs up, everyone should give it a go. You get to see the majority of the hot spots which comprises DC and its history. And the best part is, it’s a walking tour without the walking!

I can't think of any reason not to try a Segway!

When offered the opportunity to try something you've never done before, why pass it up? This was a great exciting experience and well worth the small investment in time and money. The most amazing thing is how fast the instructors had us out the door and enjoying the ride on our own. They obviously had more confidence in us than we had in ourselves. I was amazed at how fast everyone just 'caught on'! The instructors were knowledgeable about the sites we visited and their presentations were simple and to the point. I lost count of the number of envious pedestrians that said "I wish I could do that! " ... We did!

The best way to see DC is on a Segway Tour!

My friend and I planned a Segway tour as the first thing we were going to do in DC. Our thought was that the Segway tour would give us the highlights of the City and we could better plan what attractions we wanted to go back and spend more time visiting over the next several days of our trip. Great plan, but unfortunately, we missed our 6:25 a.m. flight to DC, so we were unable to get there in time for our 3:00 p.m. reservation. We called and they were great about rescheduling us to the next day. Our Segway Tour guide was Adam and he was great. First, he showed us a video which will scare the pants off you about how you can get injured if you act like a hotdog on a Segway. Then we received individual specific instructions on how to operate the Segway. I was intimidated by the video and that little stick figure guy who kept falling and breaking his back and legs and busting his head so I listened carefully to Adam and followed his instructions to the letter. Then we got on the Segway and went across the street to a spacious park to practice before getting on the sidewalk or in the street. It's really a lot easier than it looks and it feels wonderful to be Segwaying along while other mere mortals are walking. Adam took us to see most of the highlights in DC, but the most impressive was when we went to the White House. Adam's commentary on the sights we were seeing was educational and fun, too, but sometimes a little corny. Need to upgrade those jokes, Adam! But he was so cute, we didn't mind. My friend and I had a great time and it's the perfect way to get to know the City. By the way, after visiting several European cities in past years, I'm proud to say our capitol city is the friendliest, safest and most accommodating city I've ever visited. I'd recommend a DC visit to anyone and the best way to get a flavor of the City is on a Segway!

Well Worth the Money!

This was a great tour! After a brief intro and training session in the office and a nearby park, we were all soon zooming around the city, which is breathtaking at night. Our guide was funny and encouraging, and we had no disasters or even minor snafus. This fun expedition was one of the highlights (if not THE highlight) of our visit. Highly recommended! Note: the tour does NOT go to the WWII, Vietnam or Lincoln Memorials.
