Our experience with our recent Capital Segway tour of Washington was thoroughly enjoyable. We had recently taken a Segway tour in another major east coast city and found Capital Segway to be heads and shoulders better in a number of key areas. The training was excellent and very relaxed. We started in the showroom and when everyone was comfortable on their Segway, we moved across the street to a park with plenty of room to practice at touring speeds. Once everyone was comfortable here, we headed out for the tour. We were provided a high quality portable receiver & headset so we could hear our guide throughout the tour. Noah, our guide, was very informative. The Segways were in great shape and all units were fully charged for the tour. We have been to Washington a number of times but the Segway tour enabled us to cover a lot of ground in a couple of hours and see details we had never noticed on previous visits. |

My wife and I spent a week in DC and this tour was the most fun we had all week. Very easy to learn how to operate, very friendly staff and very entertaining commentary on the tour. One suggestion would be to try to keep the tour group closer together so the headsets don't cut out because the group gets so spread out. Other than that, it was great! |

You'll probably never own a Segway, so here's your chance to experience one for yourself. They are easy to ride, and just take a few moments of use until you are ready to go.
The biggest drawback is the standing. You'll be standing in one spot for the entire tour. They give a short break about half way through, so it's not unbearable.
The guides does a great job of entertaining and providing interest details and nuances regarding the District. Each building has it's own story - we heard some good ones.
Go seek a nice and charming experience and see the city on a Segway. Take photos, and have fun. |

We had our family (ages 18 to my Mom aged 60+) in our group. They taught us well and made sure we were comfortable before we headed down the sidewalk. It was a lot of fun. We could hear the tour guide very well with the headphones so we could learn about the sights and have fun riding the segway. The only downfall is that the Game and Parks won't allow any segways on their ground, so we couldn't do the monument tour of D.C. It was definitely a highlight of the vacation. I would recommend doing this on the first few days of your trip to find out what you would like to do in the more in depth tours. |

I live near DC, and my father was visiting for the weekend. Although as a child we vacationed in DC quite a bit, touring on the Segways was definitely a lot of fun and we still learned new information. Even if you have never ridden one before, it is actually quite easy to learn. The staff is great. After being individually helped onto a Segway and allowed to ride in the show room a little bit, we went across the street to a park where we were able to ride around for five minutes or so to get the hang of it. I would definitely recommend this for anybody that wants a different way of seeing DC. |

We had a great time. This was a wonderful and fun way to get orientated to the city. The two tour guides were excellent too. We would do it again. It is too bad that after you go through the training and the tour that you could not rent one individually.

I took my out-of-towner parents who are in their mid-50's on the tour. They were anxious before the tour, but since haven't been able to stop talking about how much fun they had.
I had recently taken a Segway tour through a competitor (City Segway) and thought both were of similar quality. I'd give them both top-ratings. Some differences for those of you trying to make a decision:
- City's tour was 3 hours; Capital's was 2 hours. (By hour 2, you are starting to get a little tired...)
- Both routes were basically the same, with City giving more time to "play" in front of some of the attractions.
- City breaks tours into smaller groups (6ish) instead of the 12 or so on the Capital tour
- On the City tour, you gather around the guide to hear the commentary. On Capital, you have an earpiece, so you can hear the commentary while moving around.
- City starts you out at reduced speed, not giving you full power till maybe 30 minutes in. Capital has full-speed throughout. |
